Off to Thailand and Cambodia for part 1 of 2 of her latest show. Should be interesting. I know a bit (ish) about Thai food but very little about the Cambodian equivalent (of food).

As I thought, Cambodian food is quite similar to Vietnamese. The fnar fnar named Morning Glory has been picked out as a typical dish.

Or, maybe they make for better TV? TBH, Bakeoff wouldn't have worked out so well if the first series had included Ralph Hovis, Neville Kipling, Colin Slimcea, Alphonse Warburton, Mungo Allinson and Dennis Local-Bakery. Rita Ryvita would have won by default...

I find it strange that Cambodian cuisine seems to have so few dishes which are uniquely 'theirs' compared to the huge variety found in Thai food, and, to a lesser extent, Vietnamese. Besides Amok, what is there?
Enjoyed the programme though it made me feel very 'homesick' - and very hungry!
