Its bizarre how players of this talent all appear to have one goal and that's apparent in each game. Togetherness
Granit Xhaka is the answer. In the highlights after the Chelsea goal he is there telling the players to switch on, and giving out instructions and tactics. I cant help thinking that his force of personality and attitude is taking these players along with him on his own personal mission to put Sunderland back on the map. I also can’t think of any player that has had such an immediate and positive impact as Xhaka has on our club. He has simply been an inspired signing.

like RLB said. it's like having another coach on the pitch

Yep, he’s summed it up perfectly hasn’t he. What else did he say - something like ‘when you start a new career you don’t know the expectations, here they watch Granit and know the expectations from the first day’? Another new favourite of mine from RLB on Xhaka - ‘he likes to drive the vehicle of the squad’ - sums him up beautifully at the moment.
Sadiki, always up to something. Keep saying this but he's totally hilarious, some of the stuff he's done this season, always with a complete deadpan expression too. Huge personality for a young lad.
Xhaka and Sadiki are immense together. The ground they cover is obscene. They must be horrible to play against, they are just always there!

Sadiki is very tidy with the ball too, something which could get overlooked. The fact he's f***ing hilarious 😂 is a bonus.

On top of the others, what a player Sadiki is. The ground he covers, the pressure he applies, reminds so much of Kante when he was at Leicester and then Chelsea. Brilliant.

This. Xhaka's role just can't be overstated

Agree with this apart from it being down to Xhaka that there’s togetherness. I think you do the recruitment and players a disservice. They’re clearly well scouted for good, hard working personalities

To be fair I didn’t put the togetherness of the squad down to Xhaka, or do the players and recruitment a disservice - I didn’t mention the squad togetherness. The recruitment team have brought in some great players with great personalities, all of whom seem to have bought into the ‘mission’ of the club. However, I think Xhaka has been at the front of that ‘mission’ - it’s so much easier to sell the club to those players (let’s be honest some of those who we had no right to sign as a newly promoted club, spoke about Xhaka being an influence in their decision making), and so much easier for those players to buy into what is being asked of them, when they are constantly in and around somebody like him.
