Now Southampton have got Pellegrino and Palace have De Boer in place are we now the best open position in Britain or even Europe? Who else is shopping around for a manager/coach? If so we shouldn't be settling for some lame name, l hope this is seen as a great opportunity to get someone really decent in, hopefully on the back of fresh investment from a new regime.

I don't think an English 2nd tier team with a big rebuilding job ahead would be more attractive than an available job in a major top tier league.

Very true. Plus 8 weeks into the season or so and someone will be gone or under severed pressure anyway. Managers know if they wait they'll get better terms often enough.

This. If the takeover happens, we suddenly become an incredibly attractive prospect. Fingers crossed

A talented and ambitious manager who new he could rely on a forward thinking management board would love the Sunderland manager's position.

We have been a managers graveyard for years. Mon, Di Canio, Poyet, even Allerdyce. Shoestring budgets, no youth promotion, rotten core of older players etc. if the German takeover comes off, and if we finally go pro for the first time in years, with our academy, stadium and fan base, we would have the possible potential to be a fantastic opportunity. Mind so have Leeds, Sheffield We'd et al.
