I find the international one day games the worst form of cricket going. 20/20 is canny in short bursts and can accompany the test matches quite nicely.
The one day games are neither nowt nor summit, proper dreary affairs.
need to promote test matches in other countries so people go to watch and follow on tv. Then it can happen.
I remember this crazy thing was announced for sometime this year:You must be logged on to see external links
I can't really see this kind of format ever working, don't think sensationalising test matches is necessary, it's more of a case of getting other countries interested in it. Maybe raise the financial rewards somehow if that's all people are arsed about.
I think the main problem is that ODIs have stopped becoming a way of condensing a game into 1 day and using it as a warm up for proper cricket, and instead had countless rules introduced to put all the emphasis onto batting and hitting as many sixes as possible with little regard to the bowlers or a contest between bat and ball. For me the competition isn't between Tests and ODIs or Tests and T20s; its between ODIs and T20s.
You have to ask what is the role of ODIs following the introduction of T20s?
Test cricket is the pure form of the game which everyone wants to see preserved. ODIs were introduced as the quick hit, action packed, casual fan friendly alternative. T20 fills that role much better.
ODIs have become an unsatisfactory half way house between the two; not as fast or fan friendly as a T20
