Well I think we need to agree to disagree on that mate, I understand where you coming from, and 15/20 years ago would have probably thought similar. There's a world of difference between between T20 and the traditional cuptie cricket of the '50s. It was redball, white clothing and normal boundaries with no blaring music and flashing lights. T20 appeals to the present generation, I've no problem with that. But pyjama game and hit and giggle are fitting descriptions of that form. Traditional followers have the right to be cynical about it- that doesn't make them snobs.
But I have seen local cricket participation decrease year after year and have seen kids year after year prefer PlayStation’s rather than cricket.
Therefore if music and coloured clothing is part of the price to pay to get more people involved in the game then so be it.
Like any sport competing in the modern world ,cricket needs to adapt and evolve which it has with T20, maybe the hundred is going to much the other way, we will have to see, because we all agree test cricket should still be the first priority
But T20 is a good addition to the game and good to watch imo, and deserves the recognition imo for the highly skilled cricket on show.
Personally I think it’s a insult to call some of them highly skilled cricketers just playing hit and giggle and actually think the true sign of a great cricketer is to be able to adapt their game to T20 one week then test cricket the next.
The IPL for example has been a massive success because people simply like attacking cricket always have imo.
At the end of the day whether 20 overs cricket is played in white or coloured clothing it is still the brilliant game it is.
