2nd time he's been breathalised.Realised he's an elite umpire, arguably the, elite of that elite, but a salary of £2.5 k net per week!

Aye, clearly good money in being a top class umpire - but in todays world it’s not exactly a guarantee he’ll never have to work again.

Don’t really want to comment on the case too much but it does appear there’s a grey area around breathalysing someone who isn’t actually driving at the time

Michael, if you’re reading this and need a lift to cricket matches and airports - give me a PM ;)

Not really. It’s an offence to be in charge of a vehicle with excess alcohol/being unfit through drink or drugs. You don’t actually have to be driving it.

How on Earth are you in charge of a car if you aren't driving it?

I’m aware of that, but if you’re in the house drinking - it could be argued that every time you have a couple of cans/bottle of wine on a night with your car on the drive you’re ‘in charge of a vehicle’.

Yes,if you 're in the pub and your car is in the car park you'd be judged to be in charge of it. It is a grey area though.

Wow, thought Gough was a really good umpire. Have his performances really fallen off?
He's still one of the best around. Like players, I'm guessing he can probably earn similar or more for t20 comps across the world such as IPL & PSL, etc. Been doing it for a while now so I guess could say why would you want to stand out in the middle for 5 days when you can do it for 20 overs and earn more money and probably have more time off across the year.
