Michael clark claiming they have the best pace attack in the world

Geoff boycott's Gran would have looked good bowling against our batting on favourable wickets. All three seamers were carrying injuries that would have put them out the series if we had made them bowl for any period of time.

Johnson has also been prepared specifically for this series. Let's see how they get on in SA. After giving everything for the ashes I could see them getting plastered.

Favourable wickets? No seam, no conventional swing, little reverse swing just a bit of pace and bounce. To take 100 wickets on those pitches was a great achievement and you just have to look at their pitch maps to see how incredibly accurate they were test after test. They gave us fuck all and every time we tried to upset their rhythm and lengths it backfired.

People are underplaying Johnson' performance over there because he's absolutely dislikeable. However in the last 2o years there are very few, if any bowlers that have bowled as quick, fast, aggressive and consistently accurate as that. Not Brett Lee, not Shoaib, maybe just Alan Donald.

Could not agree more Harris and Siddle also bowled extremely well and were perfect foyle for Johnson.

Don't know why we cannot just give them credit their bowled superb simple as that.

Since when has swing been a factor in Johnson's bowling? He is all about pace and bounce, probably why so many of his wickets were taken on home turf, the Gabba and WACA in particular. If he'd played in the summer he'd have been brayed all over. He is an ideal bowler for Australian conditions, just like Tremlett in 2010/11. Allan Donald was class wherever he bowled.

All three of them bowled well, but we didn't put them under any sort of pressure. They were always fresh and when they were struggling we gifted them wickets. All three have admitted to 'playing through the pain barrier'. I'd like to have seen Harris bowl 25 overs with his dodgy knee.

Johnson bowls swing and reverse swing superbly and has made his name on the IPL circuit where there is little pace and bounce doing just that. With Johnson its about rhythm and form which has been getting back for some time - if he would have been 'brayed all over in the summer' it would have been down to his form rather than the pitches.

I do agree with the latter part of your post mind - its much easier for all bowlers to ball consistent line and length if the batsmen are doing nothing to make you bowl any differently.

You reckon Brett Lee should re-admitted to 'the best pace attack in the world'? Cos he made Cook and Root look like utter mugs in the tour match!

Something seriously wrong with the batsmen on Central Contracts.
