what the fuck is he smoking?

The 2 best bowlers in the world are both pace bowlers for south africa so how does he work that one out? Morkel is nee slouch as well

Also harris will break down and johnson is yet to do anything outside of australia, and until recently was one of the most wayward bowlers in the game.

Harris is there best bowler imo, really enjoyed watching him in the summer(not so much this winter). He bowled the delivery of the series to dismiss cook imo although i've tried to blur the rest of the series so there may have been better but i've forgotten[DOUBLEPOST=1388974987][/DOUBLEPOST]Oh the series has fucked my sleep pattern and I'm a student if anyones thinking gan to bed

All the planets fell into line for Australia in this series.....that and the fact the England batsmen fell into every trap they set, time and time again.

However looking forward they do have some quick talented young bowlers waiting in the wings such as Pattinson, Cummins, Starc, Coulter-Nile, Cutting etc which is a real worry given what's happend in the last 2 months.

fantastic prospect assuming he comes back from his injuries with the same pace. Pattinson looked a better batsman then johnson so could become an all rounder.
South Africa still don't have a half decent spinner.

so someone who has over 250 wickets had done nothing outside of Australia and has a similar record to the great Geoff thompson

151 of his wickets have come in australia his averages in other test nations descending order.

New zealand 23.08
Australia 23.54
South Africa 34.47
West Indies 34.70
England 37.73
India 40.09
Sri Lanka 52.16

He averages 35 against pakistan but has never played in pakistan due to their test exile on home turf(in 2 of those 9 games he averaged over 100)

Oh and he has 242 wickets[DOUBLEPOST=1389019390][/DOUBLEPOST]Oh meant 5 games against pakistan not 9 was looking at the wrong column, played 9 against the saffers

You can claim what you like when you've won the Ashes 5-0

Pointless begrudging him, he and Lehmann have done a brilliant job with limited talent

There is no doubt Johnson has had some bad times, his record is still good though and at the moment he is bowling fantastic and top of his game, even at Adelaide normally one of the best batting tracks in the world he got a 7 for,and Harris has bowled superb as well.

South Africa have great bowlers as well should be interesting contest.

does this take into account the series just gone? reckon it will have come down a canny bit if not

Geoff boycott's Gran would have looked good bowling against our batting on favourable wickets. All three seamers were carrying injuries that would have put them out the series if we had made them bowl for any period of time.

Johnson has also been prepared specifically for this series. Let's see how they get on in SA. After giving everything for the ashes I could see them getting plastered.

Thats in england marra his average against us is 23 home and away.

Before this series he had 35 wickets against us at 34s now 72 at 23s

My point was that he has done fuck all away from australia somebody challenged it I proved it to be true.

If you are talking about present form, he probably has a point. No team has destroyed our batting line up like The Aussies have.
Whether they can keep this form going is very much up for debate.

No way of telling for sure until they play someone decent. For the time being there's reason enough to suggest they're not far from it, given basically no-one other than SA have a pace attack worth considering to begin with.

It's a very good bowling attack, at it's peak right now, but not a young one. Johnson 32, Harris 34, Siddle29, Watson32. They will not improve on what they have done this recent Ashes series. This mirrors the team actually. A good, oldish team in top form, hugely motivated to smash a complacent and jaded England team.

Their test in SA will be for the top five to get runs in the first innings of matches. England had them in trouble in four of the five tests in the first innings, even at Adaelaide they wobbled a bit, but having no third seamer cost us badly when Haddin took the game back. Australia will not get of so lightly if if SA make similar early inroads.

SA will bat properly too. Lyon is the best spinner of the two teams, and Johnson has good memories of SA- touring there with massive success in I think 08/09 - but these two and others will have to bowl for much longer than we made them, and it will be then we'll be able to make a better guess as to how good they are. My own hunch is that Clarke will wish he had not made his mouth go so much, although bearing in mind he does this even when they are being thrashed that is not likely whatever happens!

The big question for this series might well be how SA get by without the great Kallis. A three in one cricketer if ever there was one.

Well, we're about to find out when Aus play SAF

The South Africans will be a tougher prospect, you cant claim to be the best in the world when most of England's batsman got themselves out most of the time ;-)
