Michael Bridges

Seems a massive over reaction to me? Seen a slightly longer clip of the Brobbey goal and his reaction isn't any different to what you'd expect from a commentator - he basically has no reaction? Did people expect him to jump for joy? Neville and Carragher are criticised for being too emotional when commentating on Man United/Liverpool.

His allegiance is clearly with Leeds which is to be expected given he had the most success there and was there as long as anywhere else in his career. People were complaining he said "we" when working in Leeds TV - would you criticise Danny Collins for referring to us as "we" if working for SAFC vs Stoke or Chester? He got stick on here for his commentary for Sky when we played Leeds at home but we were f***ing dreadful that day.

He was excellent with limited opportunities during his first spell with us. He looked set to break into the England squad after a brilliant start with Leeds. He is bound to remember Leeds as his career peak as he was playing regularly and scoring goals in.a team competing well in the Premier League. I was sick for him when he got injured, though not as upset as when he left Sunderland.

He was never the same player after his injuries and played where he could. He did well for Carlisle United and I was pleased for him.

Like Don Hutchison he played well for us, has never run his mouth off against us and there is no point getting upset if he has a preference for the Skunks. He's better than a lot of ex footballers now working in the media. I hope he is gutted when we beat his 'beloved' Spurs at the weekend.

He's a newcastle fan who doesn't seen that passionate about them , probably due to playing for us. Looks like leeds is his team now, don't see why anyone would have a problem with any of that

His feelings towards us when Brobbey scored can be seen by his face

We're just a club he played for
As we were for SKP, Darren Bent, Danny Collins and Defoe

At last a grown up in the room!

Journeyman footballer from newcastle maybe over 10 clubs, supported spurs as a kid if I recall
Wouldn't expect him to favour us.

Haway Vauxie lad, he was a brilliant footballer, if it wasn’t for a combination of coming through when England had best striking options for generations and the serious injuries, he would have been a top PL and England player.

It’s typical Sunderland we produce our best Academy striker when we also have our best strike force in front of him.

Bridges was from North of the Tyne originally, he played for us for a few years, then our fans abused him when he went to Leeds.

Why some of our fans think every ex player should show some sort of misguided allegiance to us as an ex employer is way beyond me.

OP should move on , just like Bridges has.

Still lives there

Watched loads of Repeats of another Sunlun win....he's a Typical stand on the fence commentator Newcastle/Leeds/Sunderland? Atleast Shearer shows his alliance! Bridges is pay as you go tossa ....just my thoughts like 🤷
He’s a mag and a Leeds Utd fan. He can f*** O**

He gave me a wonderful Sunderland memory when he scored 2 against Huddersfield at RP, fkin scenes
Met him in the paper shop in East Bolden after that game while picking up a Footy Echo. Thanked him for what he gave us that day and wished him well for the future. You couldn't have seen a happier lad. Lovely lad, talented player and haven't seen him do much wrong on TV.
