Durham to play Men’s One Day Cup game at Darlington

SHARE ARTICLE:

Durham Cricket are thrilled to announce the County will play a Metro Bank One Day Cup fixture at Darlington Cricket Club this summer.
Durham Men’s One Day Cup fixture against Essex on Sunday 9 August will now take place in the South of the County as Durham head to The Feethams Ground.
With Durham regularly taking a List A fixture to South Northumberland in Newcastle, this summer the Club have decided to head to another part of the region to expand cricket to further parts of the North East.
As with the List A match played at South Northumberland, the Club will offer a members bus service to the ground. Information on travel will be communicated closer to the fixture. Anyone who has purchased tickets in advance will remain valid.
Tim Bostock, Durham Cricket Chief Executive said: “We are really excited to be taking another of our Metro Bank One Day Cup games to an out ground – specifically to the South of the region.
“During the 2020 season we had scheduled a match at Darlington Cricket Club only for it to be cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, therefore it is great news that six years later we are able to host a game at Feethams.
“Out ground cricket is always something a little different to playing at HQ and we look forward to visiting Darlington later in the summer and hopefully putting on a good show for our members and spectators.”
Members and spectators will receive further communications ahead of the match via email and across social media.
Tickets already purchased for this fixture remain valid but the club will contact all purchasers to ensure they are able to attend at the revised venue.

Middlsex website and also Cricinfo have the Middlesex game at South Northumberland on Friday 7th August but Durham website has the Glamorgan game there in July. Would love an announcement on which game is actually at Gosforth this year, if any, so I can make work plans.

Not going to lie, playing at out grounds is not high on my list of things we should do, I prefer our games to be at the Riverside, do those in charge ever consider if moving games to out grounds inconveniences anyone……..nah didn’t think so.

In all fairness ESPN also says the game at SN is a day nighter, which it 100% won’t be.

I think thats why they put transport on for the members....to minimise the inconvenience. It certainly isnt convenient for the club to take its catering and bar operations to out grounds. Obviouslythemain reason in doing it is to try and recruit new members / encourage more casual visits to the home games

Agreed and also i’d add that we probably don’t have a good out ground in the North East when it comes to facilities.

Can't wait for this. As much as I love the Riverside, the public transport for us in the south of the county is crap. It'll be nice to watch the lads and have a few beers for a change.

The oldies on here will remember in the 1990s when there was a decent amount of temporary stands at Feethams for the CC/ Sunday League games but will they bother this time?

I was there a couple of seasons ago to watch the 2nds and it was hard to miss that there is now an access road leading to the houses where the football ground used to be which of course will restrict the available space. Another thing to consider for those travelling by car is that all the streets next to the ground is now restricted parking.

Having said that I used to love the games at Feethams, Stockton and Hartlepool and agree with the comments about those from the south of the county. And not forgetting when I was there in 2024 I had a lovely pie & chips with curry sauce from the pavilion!:D

It would be nice if they would rotate the outgrounds each season. I know cost is an issue and some grounds can't always accommodate them but I'm sure some arrangement can be arrived at.
