Met a former Player last night

Must of recognised you from the Sunderland Message Board. We're all famous, I was having a quiet pint in this small pub in the Orkney Isles when Julie Roberts came over to me and said "Hi Rob, fancy a quickie round the back". I said "Piss off Julie, some bastard will pinch my pint"
I’d have told Julie Roberts to do one as well.

Julia, on the other hand…

Out with some of the family last night and this oldish fella came to our table to speak with my nephews mother in law ( no )
The fella was none other than Bobby Park who last featured in an SAFC shirt in 1972
Very nice bloke
Look at me

Romano’s by any chance ?

Good prospect but a broken leg finished him.

Not the only player to suffer that fate in those times. The tackling back them was vicious..odd that there are more injuries nowadays despite that sort of tackle being a staple.

I went to a do last week that he was at. Had a little chat with him, nice fella. Funnily enough, I was sitting next to a guy on our table who turned out to be Craig Russell's brother.

Julie Roberts? Is that Julia’s sister?
Naaah. I’m sure she was one of a chain of singers in early 80s jazz-soul band Working Week.
Sang on a few one off minor soul and house hits back then as Julie but changed her name to Juliet for being in an album band. Sweet Nothing was their biggest hit and is superb as is the album it came from.

Can't quite believe someone else posted my exact thoughts having seen that name. Can you not do that again, please - it's very disconcerting

Aye two broken legs I think
Same leg three times. Retired at 24 as the club claimed the insurance - just read it in the internet - good insight into football in that era.
Caused our hatred of dirty Leeds @Grumpy Old Man
McPheat and Kerr were v Leeds before Park was around - I don't remember Park getting his leg broken v Leeds but it happened three times so one of the breaks could well have been v Leeds.

Indeed he was ( to me at least) very genuine and courteous…back in the day we would say old school
I think he might the hots for my nephews mother in law (no)…but that doesnt demean him in any way in my eyes
Romano’s by any chance ?

I started going in 67 and he broke into the team about that time. One of my early favourites who's career was all but ended by that second leg break.
