Mercury Music awards 2025 in Newcastle

zero invites for any of the record shops in newcastle that have hosted in stores for years, been selling records when they were out of fashion and supporting the music industry. and that's just part of it

v disappointing, but not surprising

sure there'll be a load of back slapping and congratulating going on
Deary me. Twigs.

That’s horrendous, I know you but you don’t know me, however I do know the effort you put in at 586 Tony.

Keep on keeping on

the awards had very little credibility anyway but this really goes to show just how much of a farce the whole thing has been. And we the tax payers paid for it

Awards ceremonies are dogshit. No exceptions.

I enjoyed Pauline but had to bale out before Milky Wimpshake. Always good to have a chat with her and Rob.
Really enjoyed both sets. And the Deli is a great little venue as well. Works really well for a small town like Durham.

And that announcement confirms why I can't get excited about the actual prize, although that's partly down to getting old and no longer caring about the hype.

cheers. i will indeed, keep on ;)

but i'm a new comer. 3 of the shops that are / were in town have been flying the flag for years and i don't think it would have been unfair to have at least offered them the opportunity to have been there. they've probably done in stores with many of the local bands and maybe even the winner of this prize

something else i heard today, just adds to the disappointment - but the person involved, it's just to add to a long line of battles they face and i wouldn't know where to start. hats off to them

Why are we giving this prize to someone who's selling out stadiums currently? I couldn't give a shite that he supports Newcastle or how good/bad the album is. Hate that the likes of Fender, Fontaines, Monkeys, Charli xcx and Harry Styles have all been part of the nominations in the last few years never mind one of them winning it.

English Teacher got a massive shift in ticket sales and streaming numbers after they won last year and that should be the goal every year with this award. Promote talented smaller British acts.

Can’t believe they’ve given in to him 🤣🤣
I was going to stick a tenner on Wolf Alice once I saw C MAT was the favourite but I forgot.

cheers. i will indeed, keep on ;)

I reckon we’re on about the same person. I’m trying to get something off the ground.
