Mayenda discussion thread

He looks great but his decision making and composure still need work.

We desperately need another striker who offers something different to accompany him and Isidor. I’m think Connolly is not gonna make any impact unfortunately.

The one he skewed wide when clean thru not hitting the target and the one second half he put straight at keeper, the one similar to isodor was a difficult angle, he’s scored 3/18 or 3/8 as a striker, I’d argue he’s shown composure once maybe twice, Sheffield the other day and maybe his first against Wednesday,
It was on his right foot again
He needs to work on it
I think youre being overly harsh tbh
Some of the comments on here are absolutely embarrassing. I didn't realise we had so many people on this board, who played professional football at 19yr old in a foreign country, and tore the league apart
Exactly
Premier league players miss chances every week easier than the ones he missed.
But for some of ours he has literally zero composure!
He's having an absolute brilliant first season (as I don't count last season where he didn't really feature for hibs) in pro football in England.
His movement is excellent, and he looks a really prospect.
He certainly doesn't look out of place in the championship.

Poor touch that put it onto his right foot though, had he been able to take a better touch he might have been able to open himself up and left take it with his left.

Let's be honest he was an 850k gamble last season, he's going to have some rough edges, but he has several positive ones too.

Unfortunately too often at the moment he's not able to take or make the best of chances- hopefully we and he are working on that but there's no guarantees it will ever come.

Mayenda is gonna be an absolute animal he’s already bouncing people off him and he’s 19

Believe it or not even messi misses chances ya na

Just look at the 1 on 1s he’s had. It’s not luck that he gets good chances to score. It’s his attacking Intelligience and knowing where to be that gets him the chances. Like I said before , shite or mint he’s always involved in the game.
And I do think he’s a better all round footballer than Isidor but Isidor is a better finisher. They both mint and going to fire us to the prem regardless

That's the main thing that done him in for the chance imo. He had a chance when he first got it to angle more towards the goal so he could have a shot with the left.

The big positive is that now he's been put up front in the last two he's getting chances and setting up chances. I wonder how often we'll play with the two up front going forward as this will certainly impact his output.

I expect a professional footballer to lift their head to at least see what is going on around them.
Like he did for our goal you mean?
Literally has zero composure. He's a hard f***ing watch.

Always feel he could make something happen or balls up an easy chance. Proper peaks and troughs watching him 😅
Seriously

Did you not see his goal last week? Or against Sheff Wed? Or his assist today?

Some people who watch us are absolute tools

Exactly !!! It’s when people are not getting in them positions you need to worry ! Some whopper on here earlier said tou can’t teach finshing that’s bullshit it’s like snooker or darts it’s all practice look at all Jack Clarke’s goals is it a coincidence mundle and Watsons are the same it’s because it’s a finishing drill

Said it before and got slated on here Andy Cole used to miss fucning shit loads of chances it’s the ability to get in scoring positions that counts
How many 1 on 1 s does Darwin Nunez miss who cost 100 million quid ???

gets into some brilliant positions but his finishing is very erratic if he's going to play as a striker. capable of a brilliant composed finish like the other night against Sheffield but then equally if not more so capable of completely fluffing his lines when presented with a sitter. hopefully it'll improve but you never know. people have been saying for years Patto's distribution will improve as he gets older but I'm sure it's actually getting worse
