Mayenda discussion thread

Sheesh isnt good enough. Mayenda, well depends if he can improve decision making.....if he does he will be beast.
I'd say he's easily Championship level,.this is also his first run of games in two years- so we have to be a little patient. He put some excellent balls in. He's also not playing in his best position.

Mayenda I think is clearly ready to be playing week in and out and is deservedly our number two striker.
It's alright complaining about his finishing but getting himself in those positions requires a lot more than just pace (one of the fastest footballers I've ever seen was that knacker obertan who played for the mags, and he never got in positions like that).
He makes good decisions and scores goals. I think it's just about time and experience with him now.

With good coaching, a strong work ethic and a desire to learn and improve, he'll do well for us.

There aren't many teenagers doing what he's doing in the EFL...yet some of our supporters can't see we have a potentially massive asset on our hands here.
We can, and you use the term 'potentially' massive asset which means you arent sure. You dont say rigg is a potentailly massive asset do you as its obvious. His brain is faster and makes calmer decisions.

On his wrong foot, he's a devolping player playing levels above what we expected after his failed loan move. He will learn, no player is the finished article at his age..Just enjoy the potential of our young team and accept there will be times when things don't go our way

On his wrong foot but with time to come inside and hit it with his left

Need to take pressure off him and sign a striker this month if we are to go for automatics. He aint ready for that responsibility it brings.

He missed 3 other chances against Sheffield and 2 of them where pretty much a carbon copy of the one he scored, he has 2 assets that are big in modern football, pace and power but his finishing is absolutely abysmal there’s no getting away from it
2 others ?
Are you on about the one similar to isidors early on from an acute angle with his weak foot which was on target ?
Not sure about the others

Strikers miss you know.
Wissa missed an absolute sitter yesterday v saints
But someone saying mayenda has literally zero composure is obviously talking bollocks
He has composure sometimes , but sometimes he misses. Same as lots of players

I think we just have to accept that he’s going to be a frustrating player to watch at times while he develops.

Even in one half, he did brilliantly for the goal then missed an easy chance.

Seems like a really nice lad as well. Felt bad for giving him stick on here when I heard he’d gone over to the fans and apologized at Blackburn.

I think the partnership with Isidor is working really well. It’s causing opposition defences all sorts of problems when they are both making early runs. Will be interested to see how they get on against Burnley in a couple of weeks. Their mean defence will be the real acid test.

The one he skewed wide when clean thru not hitting the target and the one second half he put straight at keeper, the one similar to isodor was a difficult angle, he’s scored 3/18 or 3/8 as a striker, I’d argue he’s shown composure once maybe twice, Sheffield the other day and maybe his first against Wednesday,

He is looking really good but has me nervous when he shoots with his right foot, it is either going to end up in the net or Row Z, with his left foot most the time it is on target. His Heading no need to mention that tbh. I love his workrate, he never stops running, him and Isidor look like they have a good understanding too.
Messi was pretty shit on his right foot as well

19 year old, always in great positions, drives up the pitch great. Joint highest in the team for goal contributions with 3G 5A’s in his debut season in men’s football.

Needs to work on his composure for sure but we have a very talented centre forward on our hands imo

Creating a great partnership with Isidor too!
His final ball is shocking. Players like him anf sheesh are hit and hope when we get them. Not sure on him he seems slow when its not an instinctive decision.
Joint top highest goal contributions in the team ffs man

I’ll judge him when he’s missing absolute sitters regularly on his left foot

If he was banging them in with his weaker foot he’d be playing in the top leagues for top clubs
