Mayenda discussion thread

He missed a point blank header at home as well a few weeks ago. Surely you would think he could have been coached to at least keep his eye on it, it really is that basic.

Technically is a long way off being a Championship player, needs loaning out but we apparently don't have anyone better that isn't injured.

We shouldn’t be writing him off. He does look great at times. However the fact we’re relying on him at the moment, and he’s not just a bit part player, is the issue. Hes not gonna score the goals to get us promoted. He’s already cost us enough points to be up there.

I’ve been behind the lad so far but today he was fkn terrible …

he probably doesn’t. He was 1 of 4 strikers signed in the same window, all who have been failures.

Speakman will be telling RLB to play him to save face and detract from the fact we’ve never addressed the striker issue.

He's no where near technical enough to play winger for us. He is absolutely miles off it. His touch, his dribbling, decision making is so so erratic it is a hindrance. He has a burst of pace and thats about it. Could be brought on as a striker late in a game but never should we be starting him or passing him the the ball with time and space to think and make a creative decision. The quality gap between him and Mundle, Watson and Roberts is ridiculous. They are playing a different sport to him.

He could barely get a game at Hibernian in the Scottish league. He simply isn't at the level we're playing at.

He scored two against Sheffield Wednesday but apart from that, he hasn't done a great deal more.

On the flipside, you've got Adil Aouchiche who was isolated most the season, starts 1 game and does more than Mayenda has in the season to date.
I respectfully disagree with you. The lad is a menace and is direct which causes problems. His attempted finish today was a shocker and he tired very badly. I'd have double subbed him ten minutes earlier.

He’s cost up 4 points last 2 games no composure at all the miss v Blackburn was unreal ran a whole. Half never looked up once he’s miles off what’s needed.

He could be a menace if he actually shows a bit of bollocks and use his speed and strength more. He seems too reluctant to do so.

Not sure why he's holding back.

But bringing him on as a late striker he’s only gonna get the odd chance and hes proven he hasn’t got the foggiest idea how to score.

He’s a complete waste of wages.

He wouldn’t be playing anywhere near as much if we weren’t constantly fucked over by injuries. Feel for him a bit as he’s been thrown in the deep end but the chances he’s missed these last two games are really poor. I do think he’s got potential but Mundle/Watson are just higher quality and they are big misses right now.
