Striker
Back playing for his home club in Essex but unfortunately, he came up against a current SA first class gun yesterday (overall league standard is the equivalent of the league below what South Northumberland play)

Batted six and made a decent 46!

He was a decent servant for us and I thought it was a bold decision to let him go.

Webster at that level is just mad

Last season Grant Roelofsen was in the league (he later played for Essex and now with Gloucs this summer). He scored circa 400 more runs than anyone else in the league with the next best Dias, an ex Indian first class cricketer

Notable shout out to my own club (which some of the SMB have played at) on Saturday where we had Jamie Porter (Essex) and Ross Ter Braak (Auckland) opening the bowling in club cricket in the same league. Highlights of them opening the bowling can be seen in the link below (first 30 mins of play) on match stream, must have been one of the best opening attacks countrywide

He appears to be in the process of returning to fitness after a calf injury that stopped him mid-over in his CC debut for Leicestershire at Headingley in April. Has played a few 2nd xi T20 games in recent weeks and I imagine this club game was used to get some more overs into his legs. Perhaps a return to the Championship side is imminent, in which case perhaps we will see him in the Durham away fixture starting on 25th June? In other news Scott Steel seems to be the forgotten man at Leicester and is playing regular club cricket. Is he on his way out?
Out of curiosity I just Googled Ned Eckersley. Found this.

They have Aaaron Beard (Essex, mainly 20/20 and one dayers) playing this week too along with Wheater and Webster. 3 x pro in the same side at a level below premier cricket does not happen very often

Webster got 172 but his side still didn’t win!
