Mataeta

Will almost certainly get a bigger wage/move than Sunderland as there'll be a queue. Plus he was absolutely diabolical against us🤣

Plus he was absolutely diabolical against us🤣….twice

Too inconsistent. Can be a beast when he’s in the mood. Was complete powder puff against us. And despite the fact that we’ve massively increased what we’re prepared to spend for the right players, I think the model still applies and no way would Mateta fit that

Look we might have advanced our club this season, we might persuaded a few but we were every single “pundits” favorite to go down. We are in the north east of England which doesn’t have the best rep in the world sadly and for players, ignorant or not, we have to be realistic. This bellend who thought he was too good for the FA cup winners is never coming to Sunderland no matter how well we do

If he was to leave Palace to come here it would be for money and money only, at the moment there isn't another reason which as @TartanMackem has just said is what ends up getting clubs like us in trouble

I think we'll still have Brobbey next season. I'd like to bring someone in who can challenge him and also maybe play wide. I'd also look at Flemming from Burnley as (hopefully) inexpensive cover / option off the bench

All part of this time of year. I'd definitely be interested in Mateta as he's prolific, French & a big quick person. Not instead of Brobbey, no, but next to him. I'd swap him for Isidor.
Might not be the actual person we need, but you are right about needing someone prolific next to Brobbey.

Despite being a great season, only Wolves and Forest have scored less than us this season - we average a goal per game. One of our aims for next season has to be 55+ goals. Our two biggest problems are being too slow in the build up, so we have a packed box by the time we do try to score. The other is there is not a single player in our squad who you would bet on picking up on a loose ball and scoring from it. We have a long list of people who you would feel excited that a goal was coming when they got near the ball in certain positions. We don't have that, it has to be our top priority. With Brobbey, Xhaka, Le Fee and Sadiki, we have players who are going to create those half chances, we just need someone who can do something with them.
