Massive week ahead

I know it’s a bit of a cliche but I think the next 7 days could dictate how our season goes.

If we beat Burnley at home next week it will still be 2 wins in 3. All teams around us, even the top ones, are dropping points. Chelsea lost the other week, Liverpool drew with Burnley, Man Utd drew 3 in a row before last weekend. Mags drew with Wolves. Brentford lost the last match.

6 points out of 9 would be a good return and meant that we had done something neither Man Utd or Liverpool have done in the last few weeks in beating Burnley.

At the same time we have the window where the issue and opportunity are glaringly obvious.

Goalkeeper is sorted. Defence is largely sorted (Unless Hume plays like today regularly and then we need Mukiele there and another CB). Midfield is sorted. Brobbey is currently scoring every game. We could strengthen all of those positions but without major injuries should be ok and we have the spine of a top 10 team IMO. We lack quality on the wings.

Spend any money we have on the wings and another striker in the Brobbey mould. If we get a decent offer for Isidor I’d take it as with PSR and / or if we play the loan market with buy options in the summer like last season we could bring in 2 or 3 that could transform our attack.

Honestly think our season is at a cross roads in the next week. Win against Burnley and bring in 2 wingers and a striker and we would be right in amongst it. Don’t beat Burnley and go into the second half like this and we might keep slipping.

Worst case if Brobbeys goals dry up and we defend like today it will be a long time until May.
Can’t see Mayenda scoring goals in the Premier League in the short term and we can’t wait for him to learn his trade.

I think it is going yo be very difficult to come through the ranks at Sunderland now. We are going to be buying players who have already come through the breakthrough stage - eg Brobbey.

Horrible performance and result today against a shite West Ham team but all that talk of Europe was stupid anyway this team isn’t getting Europe. Id be absolutely over the moon finishing 10th that would be a unbelievable season but wouldn’t be suprised to see us drop to 13/14th which again would still be a brilliant season.

9 days not 7, we play on Monday

If we beat Burnley that’s 6 points from 3 games.

We picked up 6 points from 7 games after we played the visitors.

Ok it’s not nice to put in a performance like that but it’s a much healthier return.

We relied on having a solid defence, as we can't score. But letting in 3 goals against Brentford and West ham is terrible like, we have to start scoring if our defence is in decline.

This season was all about surviving the first year in the PL and building from there. We've over achieved so far and everyone has done brilliantly, but we're very short of depth so as fatigue sets in its not going to get much easier.

We just need to not over react or create false narratives about the season, its just about grinding things out and keeping our best 11 fit.

Massive week FFS 😁.

Massive week for the SMB bedwetting society. Anything other than a 4-0 win will see a lot of nervous mattresses. What a season this has been man, unbelievable.

Really?? Why all the concerns , planning and plotting....we don't need to do anything but get safe which is about 40 points. There's 15 games left then we rebuild in the Summer.

That is it..end of chat.Ffs

I don’t think we are at a crossroads at all. We have had 2very poor performances away from home in a season where there have been so many positives which we seem to have forgot already. Yes Humenwas abysmal today and Maye da,Mundle not far behind, Reinildo a red card candidate and no threat in the side from out wide, but on the whole,e we have been good. I do think if the right players become available then we would be in for them I’m sure, but if not then I’m still convinced we will still have more good than bad days like today.

The Burnley game is the week after next but anyway, it is a massive 6 pointer given our next two after that is Liverpool and Arsenal. Then we have two more very tough teams in Fulham and Bournemouth where the chances of points will be low. It's not just the chances that are low, morale will be very low indeed in the dressing room, like it is in the stands. A lot of fans, the proper ones, the ones who actually have a heart and are capable of feeling things, the ones who have emotions, the ones who don't frequent the message board (apart from me), will be very downcast. The Burnley game now takes on extra importance for a win. A win will seem even more vital. They will be even more eager and nervous to see a victory. But even a draw will restore some lost confidence. So it isn't that massive. I would be elated if we drew 0-0 or got a score draw like 1-1. But a win is even more needed.

No need for me to start a separate thread because the title of this one is so apt.
3 transfers really close, club hopeful on all three. Please don't ask anymore questions.
Think we need a couple in to keep us ticking over. Don't know what rlb was thinking today with Hume when gerty was on the bench. Mundle needs a bit time away from the starting 11 for confidence alone.
