Martin Olsson to Sunderland according to @Johno909, which would pave the way for Richardson and McCartney to West Ham #safc #whufc

Sunderland turn their attentions to Martin olsson from Blackburn

He'd be a step down from Richardson imo

Just below Johnson but above Sialasse at the euros at the worlds worst fullback

Credit to the lad if he is genuine and spot on, his posts seem very related to twitter gossip though.

Longhorn called what the away strip would look like weeks ago, he 100% has a source and gets info

Pretty sure they don't really exist these days. There is barely one in the premier league who isn't a converted something or other.

Gibbs, Clichy, Evra, Assou Ekotto, Baines, Warnock, Taiwo, Kolarov, Bridge, Santon, Drury, Taylor.

You're right mate there's barely any

Well done, many are converted wingers (or wide midfielders) and in some cases weaker for it defensively, which is what he was talking about. Even someone like Cole who it took years to improve the defensive side of his game.

Name the ones who I've mentioned who are converted wingers?

Cole, Bridge, Warnock (played allover midfield), Kolarov (still plays both), Gibbs played both, Evra, Santon pretty sure Ekotto did too.

Only ones I cant recall doing so is Baines and Drury (who isn't even in the Premiership) and Taylor, though I know little about the latter.

Pretty much the norm these days, but you did ask...

Just because they've played in midfield doesn't mean they aren't natural defenders. The likes of Evra, Cole and Kolarov were able to attack more due to the teams they played for. That doesn't make them converted wingbacks.

It's like saying Phillips wasn't a specialist goalscorer because he started out as a right back.

Cole certainly wasn't a 'natural' defender and his instinct wasn't there for years when first playing the position, which pretty much ties in with what's being talked about. And Kolarov still isn't, whereas Evra always looked like one to me despite starting in attack.

All of those certainly used to play somewhere else. Most are failed wingers. If I look further I fully expect the same to be true of the majority of the others.

No. The fact that they spent pretty much all of their youth careers - and some of their first few years in the first team as wingers - does.

They may have played there but have always been left backs.
Olson is the only one i ccan think of that may have been converted

Stefan Schwarz might be hos agent... Or atleast has been. Any way... Bettet than What we got... If ge comes sheep get in..

most of the best wing/full backs in the world started off upfront or on the wings.

i'm a fan of olsson, we would really miss ricco's energy and olsson can match that.

He seems good going forward when I've watched him, but slightly crap in defence.

I don't know much about him though, but it worries me, once again, a player from a relegated side.

They f***ing haven't like

Bridge and Cole were failed wingers, Cole only got playing there whilst on loan at Palace, Bridge was an out and out winger who got converted by Hoddle IIRC after spending the first couple of years of his pro career playing wide left (with little success) on occasions for Southampton.

Santon was a right winger, Evra an attacker. Warnock more a utility player, who mostly played central midfield IIRC.

Haven't seen enough of him defensively but going forward he always looks good.

Plus, if it means there's less chance of Bardsley playing left-back, I'm in.
