Ahhh, that’s where things go wrong. You think I’m actually pretending.
If you can’t debate then why come on a messageboard? People are seeing the flaw in your argument about “having a bad season but luckily turning it around”. You are giving no credence to the reasons why this change in fortune happened, ie the bloke who may be in the running for the Sunderland job.
Now debate the point you made because your ignore list will be longer than those you can actually respond to. I know I know onto ignore I go…. If you can actually see it in the first place

Strong words from Carlton Palmer

“From what is coming out of the football club, is that you’re not allowed to bring into your coaching staff, you’re allowed to bring in one person and then you’ve got to work within the realms of how they want to run the football club.

“This is their choice, their policy, of bringing in young players in, not really signing senior players and the control that’s taken away from the manager.

“As I’ve said, it’s going to be a very, very difficult appointment because any manager that is worth his salt, unless you’re really desperate to get back into work, you’re only set up to fail under the regime that Sunderland have set up.

“This is disappointing for the supporters, disappointing so close to the season. You’d obviously want to have a manager in place to start getting to work in the transfer market for the upcoming season.
f***ing embarrassing how they think this can work

So the club get slagged off for being linked with people out of work and now it’s desperation if we’re willing to pay compensation for one in work?
Some peoples heads have well and truly fallen off during this saga.
Not for me to defend the poster but I would imagine his point is we go for the cheapest option every time (and it always costs us more in the long run) but because we are now probably on our 5/6 option with pre season rapidly approaching we are only going to get anyone of note if we spend money.

It would have been cheaper to pay off Speakman and Dodds and get some decent staff in as well as a decent HC at the end of the season because whoever comes in now is still going to have to work with Dumb and Dumber and it will be like a millstone round their neck as Carlton Palmer rightly points out.

And this is the way that I see it, not just his opinion but his comment,” from what is coming out from the football club”. It’s an incestuous business and people within football will know what’s going on. Anyone who thinks that this whole fiasco will go unnoticed and not have an affect on the decisions of prospective players, head coaches, coaches or whatever, need to think again.

aye a convicted nonce..and failed football manager...exactly who to listen to on these matters..

Why do you think it might have ended better than it started?

In the first half of the season (23 games) they won 5, drew 5 and lost 13. The second half of the season (23 games) they won 9, drew 7 and lost only 7. If my maths is correct they won 14 extra points in the second half of the season from wins and draws from what they won in the first half where they earned 20 points. They earned 34 points in the second half of the season. Four extra wins (12 points) and two extra draws (2 points).

You also have to remember the 6 game losing streak they went on in the middle of the first half of the campaign where they lost 3-1 to Coventry City at home, Leeds Utd away 1-0, 4-0 at home to Blackburn Rovers, Huddersfield (now relegated) and WBA both away respectively 2-1 and 2-0 and finally Leicester City 2-1 at home.

In the second half their longest losing run was only two. Plus they beat Leeds 4-0 at home and eventual Champions Leicester City 2-1 away. Other notable results are drawing Ipswich Town 0-0. All of whom were fighting for promotion.

That's why I think they did better towards the end than it did at the start. For all it's worth which probably isn't worth much on the SMB.

He would probably know what type of job would be attractive for a head coach, just based on talking to people. Has absolutely nothing to do with moral character, nobody is arguing about that.
and what about the head coaches that take jobs under DOFs...?
Man utd mabager just got kept on as head coach because he agreed to a change in tactics imposed by the technical director..
