Mark Wood - totally mismanaged

Really infuriates me this, all this talk of winning abroad, ashes etc, hasnt been backed up with actions

Mark Wood has won England his las 3 tests he played abroad, averaging 14, he averages just over 20 abroad

We have 5 tests against India coming up, 5 tests in Australia

We don't win here without Mark Wood

Yet he gets dropped from a central contract, and is now thinking about moving to white ball stuff

Yet Sam Curran will now earn double Mark Wood. He won't even be in the squad to Australia. Chris Woakes, great England, very unlikely to even play in these 10 tests, earns more than double.

I don't get it. Have they just dropped him because they thought he won't kick up a fuss?

It goes against everything they have talked about over the last 12 months, building to Ashes etc, then they just treat one of the major reasons they can win there like this?

Answers on a postcard.

Absolutely stinks of Giles this. Probably pick 3 military medium for Oz along with Archer bowling the odd ball over 90 but majority between 82 and 85mph.

Probably gan with 4 seamers and 1 spinner in India for the first Test too.

Same vanilla shit we do every time.

Although let’s be honest, the best thing for Wood’s form and fitness is probably to be away from that god-awful England setup. They’ve been the ruination of far too many promising quick bowlers IMO.

Agree with the OP wholeheartedly.

England have banged on for years about developing out and out quick bowlers. Wood is quicker than Archer and yet he'll find himself behind the likes of Craig Overton and Sam Curran. A typically English approach.

He's been treated appallingly IMO. He was England's best bowler last winter and found himself dropped again after an average performance on a featherbed at the Rose Bowl.

England's best chance of winning test matches, particularly abroad is with Mark Wood in the team.

Again to echo others, totally agree with OP. We simply have no chance in Aus if we go into that series with Woakes and Curran etc as bowlers. Wood and Archer (in short spells bowling at pace) are needed and in form for us to have any chance over there.
