Mark Stoneman

Borthwick in his post match interview said he was giving Rocky plenty of "abuse" and that's the word he used and that Rocky did not speak a word to any Durham player during his innings.
Surely that's the way it is the fielding side sledge and the batsmen either blanks them and stays in his bubble or he gives them heaps back.
At the end of the day Rocky batted well but it wasn't enough after Rushy superb spell.

Nothing happened he fronted up and told the club he was leaving and a lot sooner than Borthwick did.
Crack on he came here to win and he didn't.
There is no issue with Rocky and Durham particularly between him and SB who had been sending each other banter texts before the game. There’s no doubt he wanted to win and so he should but well done to Durham for sending him back down disappointed. Middlesex is perfect for Rocky re the specialist London hospitals and the relationships they have with individual doctors for his youngun.

Spot on! Rocky has far bigger issues in his life than just cricket and you probably know much more about it than anyone else on here.

Could see plenty of sledging going on via the stream
I'm obviously not very perceptive! The only thing I noticed on the stream was Rushworth turning to Stoneman when he bowled Ollie Pope.
Despite what you say and TM says below I saw him acknowledge the crowd on the way off. He got a good ovation imo.
I thought he acknowledged the fans when he got 100 as well. Raised his helmet to the dressing room first, then raised his bat to the crowd.

I was sitting next to @Twisted in The Trapdoor at the time and mentioned how Stoneman failed to acknowledge any of the generous and deserved applause he got for his century but hey ho let's just agree to disagree on this occasion.

Fair enough if true, like I said before it could have been anything, was just a perception with how it came across at the time, and others noticed it too on the match thread. Could well have been gamesmanship or banter that went too far too.

No, I'll take your word for it. I just watched it o the stream and it looked like he offered a perfunctory bat lift to the crowd but I can understand why Durham fans might have expected more from an ex-Durham player.

And yet
Just loads of needle in the game really. Rushy had a go at him a few times, Badger was very vocal all game. Could see plenty of sledging going on via the stream. Then he never acknowledged our fans when scoring his 100 or when he was out and was applauded off and kept focus on their dressing room. Nothing bad or anything but you could sense that there was bad blood particularly between Scotty and Mark. Very different atmosphere when Steel was batting for instance.

Just felt like something had happened behind the scenes when he left us that we aren’t aware of
and yet they're txting mates. I recon that more likely to be competitiveness of a pro.

Appears to make sense with regards to not having to move away from the area and the care for his bairn.

Wonder if we were aware of the situation and/or interested?

Imagine starting next season with:

Stoneman
Lees
Borthwick
Bancroft
Bedingham
Dickson

As our Top 6

So you'd be happy for Bancroft to return?
