This whole post is about spells and patches - yet your whole arguement is that clubs don't go on patches and spells and we should be happy to be mid table? Your point is so confused. How long does it take for a patch to become something more? Why are Tottenham's successful periods not also patches?

Spurs have had a top 5 finish every decade since the 70s.

You've done it in two decades 😂

Spurs have won silverware recently. You haven't 😂

Continued success is not a patch. You haven't had continued success except the 90s

I'm off to bed fella, it's been a good debate and discussion and I'm happy to reply tomorrow. I will reiterate that I'm happy with mid table but we will have to agree to disagree about MA and his ownership. I hope for your sake whoever takes over from Donald is not like him.

Yeah I'd hate to finish 5th and qualify for Europe.

We made cup finals, played regularly in Europe and got to the Europa League Quarter finals in my life. It's not ridiculous when we were quite far ahead of teams like Tottenham to expect not to get relegated. Ashley was a shocking owner without ambition and without a clue - look at fuckers like Wise and Kinnear ffs. Like I've already stated in the comment you quoted, I'm happy with midtable.

You are aware how cookies work right? Hahahahahah it comes up first for you because you visit it often you daft fuck. You are making it worse not better  Calls me terminally stupid , yet reads The Sun and doesn't understand how the internet works 😂

 so you thinkyou should be competing with Spurs?

good god.

To be honest, we're just about playing a different sport to those in the Premier Lesgue. Our transfer outlay last summer was probably less than it was in 1987.
Let them get on with it as we have a shit load of our own problems to deal with.

There's a difference between ambition and expectation.

You were doing fine under Ashley. It was nowhere near a failure.

The peroid you were chasing titles and cups you over achieved. It wasn't your natural place. Now if you stayed there consistently which you didn't you'd have a point.

You sold Gazza you sold Waddle You sold Cole because you aren't as big as spurs and man utd. Spurs were bigger pre 92 and bigger after 2004.

I keep hearing this spurs argument but the only time you were more successful was in your purple patch. Before and after that spell Spurs have always been bigger.

That's plainly silly. From 1892 until about 1955, Newcastle were an infinitely bigger club than Tottenham - as were Sunderland.

Is it delusional for me to say I don't think the deal will go through? How many times have we seen this same headline.

Ashley will pull out last minute.

@mag in peace

all this talk of Europe etc

You do realise that Ashley had you ina European cup quarter final???

or does that not count????

Will he fuck, we are heading for a full on recession in this country, of course he will sell, £300m for something nit making much profit

its done

Thank the lord Mr Ashley stopped you being another Leeds then.

If I’m honest I do, I really don’t want to see them being good with loads of money

I mean, yeah that would be shit, but is it gonna happen? Is somebody going to buy them and turn them into Liverpool or Man City?

That’s hugely unlikely.

It’ll go like most PL takeovers. The new owners will talk a big game, the fans will be convinced they’re going to be CL regulars, the reality is the best they can hope for is regular PL status, like they pretty have been for their whole existence. And that’s if they don’t end up with some incompetent (or worse) ownership who have no idea what they’re doing.

nothing has been announced no...
the barclays executives got cleared of wrongdoing but dont know what that means for her case..

I found it staggering that they were cleared. There is a cracking podcast by the FT about the case, came out about two months ago, based on an in-depth article from the newspapers. Some of the prosecutions evidence appeared very strong to me.

If Staveley is basing part of her financial input into the deal her case against Barclays then I would have thought she is taking a huge leap
of faith.

At this stage, yes, very delusional.

She is an incredibly successful and driven woman. She brokered the Man City deal at the age of 35 during the height of the global credit crunch. 35, think about that.

Now compare that to Lee Charnley. At 35 the most important decision he was making was what biscuits to buy for a board meeting. He fucked that up with hobnobs.

You are fundamentally missing the point. It is about the return of some hope that a football club that is trying to compete will return. Rather than a shell.

The talk about funding urban regeneration and ground expansion is enough. The Dortmund blue print would be enough.

A sustainable business model built upon galvanising the passion and the working class heritage of the region. To aim for the largest crowds in the country would be a more achievable goal.

the rueben brothers and stavely are ot saudi.
the rueben brothers are british indian jews and stabely is from the ujk.
the companies house files make no mention of the saudis.
its stavely fund thats buying it with the reubes..the saudis may be invested in the fund, but stabely runs the investments, thats what a private equity fund is.
[/QUOTE]

The Saudi's are involved. They are going to be 80% shareholders.

"Sky assert that the ownership is set to be:

The Saudi fund (PIF), controlled by Prince Mohammed bin Salman will hold 80 per cent of the club shares, while Amanda Staveley will hold 10 per cent of the shares and it is expected that she will play a key role in the running of the club.

The final 10 per cent will be controlled by billionaire brothers, David and Simon Reuben. They have significant property interests in the Newcastle area - including owning the city's racecourse."

You manage to talk shit about NUFC and SAFC. You came across a right prick on STID as well.

It is being reported in the FT today in the mergers and acquisitions section. No other prior story got beyond speculation to this stage.
