Marc Guiu - Boomerang Transfer confirmed

Not sure why there's a clamour to play Wilson up front. Lost his place last season because he was miles off it and is completely weak as piss when the ball is played into him.
For me, the fact he can create a chance out of nothing and score special goals is part of the reason. We arent going to get handfuls of chances each game in this league, and he can find the net. As mentioned above though, we seem to create more chances with mayenda leading, but then he doesnt put as many away.
I agree. I think Wilson is more clinical but may not get into the positions Mayenda does anyway and generally needs the ball played in front of him being somewhat one dimensional as a centre forward.

I can see why the club might want to persist with Mayenda given what maybe is available and what it would cost in the current market, but we can't miss chances like against Burnely with any regularity and stay up.
Aye, basically that

Agreed. He can play up front and you barely notice him, he never challenges for the ball. Scond half tonoght suggested he could be a threat wide left.
Even then people need to temper themselves. He was up against Gooch, a third division painfully slow full back. Wilson always looked poor on the left in the championship.

Just looks like a sub at best to me.

Fully agree with the level of opposition and the dominance of chelsea in europe. It was more so the way he played and was seemingly a hard worked off the ball too. Early days but i have faith he will be a decent enough signing

Thing is, if he is to lead the line, he'll need to be more than just adequate or solid enough. He'd be an option off the bench, but I'm not expecting him to be getting the kinds of figures needed that will help keep us up, but then I think the same thing about Mayenda and Wilson too.

We also can't afford him to fall on the floor everytime he receives the ball with his back to goal or whenever the ball is in the air.

Massively undecided on him at the moment- looked decent first few mins against Burnley and then didn't do much else. Today isolated first half but had a couple of chances. Took forever to get his feet sorted early on with one and lost it, then manipulated the ball quite well for the next and fluffed the finish. There was a few balls put in for him and ahead of him second half where I thought he should have done better. But took the goal well.

I hope he fires into action with some involvement and goals now but he looks too much like someone who needs a lot of time and patience than someone ready to come in and make a difference.
He reminds me of 😞 Danny Graham 😞

Don’t think it’s a tough call tbh. Think Mayenda has enough credit in the bank and is much more of a threat. Missed one, albeit a sitter, and now peoples on his back
People getting carried away because he ran past a shite Lyndon Gooch a few times

Probably because they're all showing weakness and then we see them from the bench and we see something. Wilson for me is more clinical than Mayenda, but he's too one dimensional as a centre forward needing the ball played ahead of him or where he has space. He showed tonight he's got a bit more to his game, but it wasn't as a centre forward.

Mayenda can close better, challenge better, hold the ball better, but his finishing and control in the box is erratic.

Yes, I think he's a sub but he showed against WHU he can be effective and, for me, he should be looked at as a LW sub.

We need another striker tbh who is more ready to start. But we won't sign one and it could cost us come May.

agree completely.

He's scored a goal but his overall play against a L1 team has been very poor.

His lack of effort is a concern.
He should be busting a gut to say I'm the striker for the premier League games
Saying a player isn't trying, isn't really trying. It's an unprovable observation, unlike my remark.

I thought he would have stood up to take a penalty like
Him not taking one doesn't mean he didn't volunteer.

I noticed all penalty takers were players who were around the team for the play off final, which is probably when we last practiced penalties to any great degree as a team.

There seemed to be a whole routine around a player walking part way with the taker.

We probably do. I can't see them paying enough/ being able to attract someone at the moment though. So I'm hoping against hope Mayenda's composure improves again like it did midway to the back end of last season.

Then if we play someone sitting deep like Burnley we leave sentiment aside and bring Giui on and interplay around him and cross into the box. Or if we play sides coming out and there's potentially space then Isidor comes in to run from deep or have balls pumped over the top.

Or maybe there's some African 6ft powerhouse in Ligue 1 or the Bundesliga on his way over now.
