Man City - 115 Charges

The FA need to ‘look tough’ & City need to know there’s little or no impact on their long-term aspirations.

So expect to see some kind of contrived, ‘no losers’ outcome whereby City spend the millions they’d set aside for a prolonged legal battle on grassroots football (dressed up as a severe financial sanction) - and a points deduction that has no tangible impact on them in real terms (they might quite fancy a season in the Europa league while they’re redeveloping the team).

The FA will make out it’s the biggest sanction taken in footy history, City will deny any wrongdoing & the whole thing will rumble on while the likes of Chelsea & Saudi FC analyse the small print to see what they can now get away with, too.

Cynical? Yeh, too right. I’d like to see them smashed into oblivion & others the same (like Saudi FC) but our pathetic little appeasers in the FA really aren’t capable of doing that.
Nowt to do with the FA.
I almost dont want that. Would mean we would get the League Cup, but then i was there, we didnt win, we didnt get to celebrate a win. I couldnt celebrate being awarded the trophy, 10+ years later.
Open top bus tour!
I doubt they’d start dishing out titles to other clubs but I would like some sort of compensation for loss of earnings because we would have got into Europe for winning the league cup and who knows where that would have lead us or what type of players we could have signed.
That’s exactly why they won’t have trophies taken off them.

They'll get a non punishment which is dressed up as a punishment. Like a 30 point penalty, implemented this season, which means that instead of finishing 6th and qualifying for the Conference League, they finish 17th. Affecting absolutely nothing.

And upon appeal next season the 30 points are added back on so they start with 30 points ahead of the rest.

If we were awarded the league cup id be overjoyed and I’d celebrate it. Do you think the likes of Liverpool and Arsenal won’t be celebrating if they get handed league titles ? If they are found guilty it means they’ve financially cheated to win these competitions and the runners up have been cheated out of potential trophies.
Sunderland could have a case to sue them for lost revenue as league Cup brings with it European football qualification

Just been reading and article about the Man City 115 charges case & the fact that the odds of them being relegated have fallen from 16-1 to 12-1 seems to indicate that an announcement will happen soon.

Putting aside us getting retroactively awarded the 2014 League Cup & it taking the shine off those lot up the road, surely this means that it's more important than ever that we go up this season? I'm assuming that City would come down in a 3 with Southampton & probably Leicester and that they'd be promoted again next season, leaving up to half a dozen teams vying for the other automatic space, nevermind the play offs.

Would they also have a points deduction next season too, just like Sheffield United, as anything else would surely just be unfair on those already in the Championship, making promotion next year much harder?

Maybe having 3 + Man City come down and 4 go up this season would be fairer (as long as we're one of the 4).
Instant appeal and 2 more years of delays

Wouldn't affect the League Cup. The charges brought against them are Premier League related. The League Cup comes under the EFL, who have no jurisdiction over them.

Relegating them would be absolutely pointless.

A team that doesn't deserve it would end up staying up and being relegation fodder next season. Then an opportunity for a Championship team would be taken away next season as City would inevitably win the league.

Punish them by banning them from Europe or throwing transfer embargoes their way.

Why don't the PL use some of the billions from the TV rights? It would mean less prize money for all PL teams which won't do Man City any favours
The 20 clubs are shareholders of the Premier League and vote on any changes. You'd need 14 of the other 19 to vote to receive less money. It'd be a hard sell.

I have a sneaky feeling the conclusion to this might not be as exciting as everyone hopes.

I'd like them in the National League for one 🤣
The worst I see happening, is that they will wait until after city fail to qualify for Europe, and then issue a 10 point deduction effective this season. City finish mid table this season and win the league again next year at a canter when Rodri is back.

This. Said it all along, I would be surprised if they got a proper punishment. A slap on the wrists and a big fine is all they will get. For me, one of the more annoying things is that everyone can see what is going to happen next. Very few I have spoke to see a big puniu.

Tbh I don't give a flying fish about 2014. It means nothing, the game has come, gone and is buried.
Regardless, it is vitally important we go up any season. I will be gutted if we miss out in the playoffs.

They will get a monster fine and a 12-15pt deduction for the 25/26 season.

The PL will be happy as they can attempt to argue that City have been punished.

City will be delighted as they would have gotten off with cheating.
