The best fast bowler in the last 30 year bar none. Taking into consideration Walsh, Ambrose, Waqar, Wasim, Hadlee, Botham, Holding, Imran, Anderson  Steyn or anyone else its not even a close argument. I dont care about stats (his were fantastic) he was the best.

He could do everything Hadlee could do but at a quicker pace - an absolute genius.

I only saw Lillee when he was past his best. Anyone who disagrees or who can put up a realistic counter argument can fuck off

God post but Lillee gets it for me. Just mind

Lillee is a favourite of mine.

He overcame a career ending injury to become one of the best ever, add to that he revolutionary with fast bowling fitness regimes.

His stats speak for themself, couldn't really argue with anyone who says he was the best (Me dad does), as he was just before my time.

The one I'd pick out from my era would be Ambrose. Unerring accuracy with pace and bounce, capable of bowling devestating spells.

I liked 'Whispering Death' more.

He was a great bowler and absolutely rapid but Marshall could be anything he wanted changing the way he bowled on different pitches and different conditions. He could bowl at the speed of light if needed or cut down his pace and have it on a string.

Holding had a sort of elegance about him, both fine bowlers no doubt, but the magical aura that oozed from Holding made him my favourite.
Big bird was also a favourite even though the fukka split me lip at Jesmond in the nets before one of the 'Callers' games.

This. Ambrose was a beast of a bowler. Didn't see Marshall so can't comment.

Mcgrath doesnt even get in an alltime Australian XI according to most experts

I never really saw Marshall.

Ambrose in his pomp was something to behold.

Its a shame because Harmison should have taken 500 test wickets and being feared throughout the world. I first saw him at Valentines Park when we were cack and Stuart Law in his pomp was backing away. He was bowling downhill with the wind and was regularly hitting batsman where it hurt.

What a waste

There were so many great bowlers in that era, even as a kid i used to love the series against the Windies. Marshall was fantastic bowler and could bat with one hand. Holding was great to watch but a bowler i always thought was underated was Andy Roberts, his pace was very deceiving, a wonderful bowler.

Harmison should have been one of the greatest - had all the attributes but not the mental strength. He was in the Ambrose / Garner mould - I was looking at a bit of you tube stuff on fast bowlers and came across this by Garner

That second one was a bit tasty

One of my favourite memories of cricket when I was a bairn, was Marshall coming out to bat one handed, I just thought, fuck, how do you beat a team with that much heart, how things change.

Marshall does tend to be regarded as the best fast bowler from that generation among his peers.

For my era it would be McGrath.
