Re: Newcastle in talks with Cisse

I would be very surprised if Ba was off. It will have been him who sold the club to Cisse man.
They took a punt on Ba and it has paid off in more ways than one.
Sometimes you have to doff your cap, take it on the chin and move on.
Let's concentrate on who we've got not who they might get.
In Martin O'Neill we trust.
We're gonna be okay I tell ya !

Re: We are unlikely to sign anyone

agreed, said the same at the start of the month. Campbell to return soon

He is overrated and nothing more than an average squad player, he's no f***ing better than Jon Stead anyone who thinks he's going to solve our forward problems needs to give their head a serious shake.

Re: Newcastle in talks with Cisse

hate the bastards but £7.5M is a f***ing bargain.

For what though? Nobody knows what they are getting and if he is good as the meltdown on here suggests then he would be worth significantly more and not hanging around the bottom of the Bundesliga.

If I was them I would be getting increasingly nervous about Ba's stay at the club.

Re: Newcastle in talks with Cisse

not just really upset, howl at the moon panicking by the looks of it

Oh okay.

Look I know it's not the 'done thing' but I'm going to choose to 'not cry like a baby' over this.

For some bizarre reason I reckon that 'being upset over something not happening that might not have been true in the first place' is a bit f***ing pathetic.

Re: We are unlikely to sign anyone

Entitled to your opinion however we will see who is right come the zest of February 2012

Surely you can see we need a striker now???

Depends on what we expect from the season. For me we easily have enough in our side to avoid the drop, we arent going to get into the top 7 (which could potentially be a Europa League place), so I would question the point of paying over the odds for a striker now. Obviously we need a striker at some point- if a good striker is available at a fair price now I'd take him but January is notoriously bad for value (what were we being quoted for Fuller last season, about 8m iirc?).

Personally I dont think Bendtner is too bad (albeit he is far from a goalscorer) and I think him up front, or Wickham up front, with Sess in behind, McClean on the left and Larsson on the right, with a midfield of Cattermole holding and Vaughan spraying the ball around/ Gardner getting forward makes us dangerous enough to not need to rush into anything. The one thing I would love is a good FA Cup run like, but again if a good striker is around I'd take him, I just worry that we might get fleeced. Dont mind paying over the odds if you're really chasing a CL/ Europa place or if you desperately need fire power to avoid the drop but doing so when looking set for a safe, mid table finish isnt necessary imo.

Slightly harsh he isn't that bad but agreed with the scoring comment

But if the strikers we target have a good second half to the season that will bump up their price as well as alert other teams, take sess for example if we didn't get him in January and waited until the summer he wouldn't be a Sunderland player

Re: Newcastle in talks with Cisse

Ahh, fair enough. Nee idea whether he is worth it or not tbh.
i have seen him play less than 10 times, seems to be a good striker with an eye for goal. Hope he falls flat on his face but i reckon he'd do a good job. Especially if partnered with Ba.

Their scouts do seem to find good players but is he really a "find"? Seems to have been on everyone's radar. Ba was a good signing though, can't argue with that, and maybe this lad will be the perfect foil for him. If Ba stays anyway.

Supposedly we had a £10m bid rejected in the summer for him. Seems odd, unless he's out of contract sharpish.
