Mags better watch out then.

I hope we f***ing destroy them again in both games. Law of averages says they'll beat us eventually, but it would be nice to match the dominance in the derbies the last 2 seasons with a top 10 finish.

I think both clubs will do alright to be honest.

Why does everything we do have to be related to the mags?? Who gives a shit about them we play West Brom in less then two weeks

Erm, is it because they are our major rivals and we detest the mealy mouthed bassas ? Just a thought.

 No bother mate, hopefully we play them in a game of 5 a side next season then you clueless berk

My point is they aren't loads better which so many on here seem desperate to say they are.

They've lost what their fans consider their three best players in Cabaye Arfa and debuchy this year as well.

based on?
Colback is the only one with premier league exposure . A couple of unknown French league players and 2 from Holland.
If we had bought them the doomies would have bemoaning their lack of experience. Them lot buy them and they're superstars
Well they had a better season in the league than we did last season and their team hasn't altered any more significantly than ours has from last season. I don't think there is a great deal between the teams but I do think that as things stand, they look slightly better. They look as though they've replaced Cabaye with that Cabella lad, and De Jong did look decent on the odd occasion I watched him. They are apparently in the market for a new striker as well. It's just an opinion and I hope its wrong but we will have to wait and see.

Agree with all of that, but I wasn't saying that to begin with either. I was simply saying that I think that they would seem to have a slightly better team than us as things stand.

They've had a better team the past 2 seasons(based on league finishes) yet the aggregate score is 9-2 to us and they have a solitary point.
The reverse argument gets trotted out on this board in relation to Hull.

Footballs not played on paper, we finished above Hull so technically have a "better" squad. We played utter shite in all games against them and deserved to get beat. Just like the mags deserved to get beat in 3 of the last 4 games even though they finished higher than us.

Unless the mags have signed some big characters with these new lads I don't think they have any leaders in the team whereas in previous years, with O'Shea, Borini, Cattermole and Brown we've had players who can take the game by the scruff of the neck.

The last 0-3 at their place we were taking the piss at the end and I thought the skunks gave up completely

I gave up on derbies with Pardiola being in charge some time ago.

I'll start worrying if you finish above us in the league, win something or play in Europe regularly.

SMB is a weird forum, you had unbridled optimism last year predicting 7th-1oth quite comfortably then spent the rest of the season in revolt. There's no middle ground

I'd not heard of any of their signings (bar Colback, obviously) before.

Who can hoy up the Mags' likely starting 11 next season?

There is, but there are fewer than 10 of us - we are drowned out by the elation or the doom...

Well De Jong was captain of Ajax so presumably he has something about him.

When I read Don Hutchison commenting on Borini this morning it just made me think how similar Borini is to Hutchison.......in no way similar in playing styles but in the indomitable way in which they approach games without fear, not knowing when they are outmatched and rising to the occasion. The value of having a player like Borini in your team is not just in his ability on the pitch but in the way he approaches the game and the belief he gives to those around him.

Do Newcastle have those characters? I guess we will see

This is why Borini is worth so much to us and why idiots saying we should be in for Remy or Hernandez instead are idiots.

That's what wins derby games. I am not getting carried away again until we walk back out of the stadium with 3 more points. I don't want egg on my face.

They seem to have done a bit of a De Fanti manoeuvre this summer, signing up all and sundry from across Europe without any PL experience.

We all know how that little 'experiment' worked for us.

Fortunately we had a saviour in the shape of Poyet; Newcastle have Ashley's puppet in charge who hasn't the first clue about tactics or motivation - it's going to be interesting to see how it pans out for them...
