I’m guessing they don’t want to sign someone who’ll likely end up leaving on a free. Rather give time to other players and hope their value increases

Another option in the middle of the part would have certainly been useful. You have to wonder what benefit having a hugely experienced player could have mentoring/developing some of the players around him?

If nowt else a shirt term hit to get him in and have that experience and ability to aid the youngins is what we're screaming out for, plus he's native language being French would be a bonus.
