Lynn Dawson RIP

Midfield
Sunderland Deaf Society has recently suffered the loss of one of their bar volunteers, who passed away on February 27th. This news has been shocking for the deaf community, as she was only 48 years old. It is unfortunate that just 12 weeks ago, she was feeling fine with no symptoms. However, after a check-up with the doctors, she was taken to the hospital, where it was confirmed that she was suffering from lung cancer.

In addition to her battle with cancer, Lynn, being deaf, courageously faced the additional challenges of encountering barriers and inequality within healthcare. In response to this, we have developed the Dawson Deaf Cancer Support Service. This initiative aims to empower volunteers to provide practical support, guide deaf individuals to relevant services, and advocate for accessibility in healthcare services.

There isnt a service to support cancer patient that is run by deaf organisation therefore the reason of fund raising to set the first organisation dedicating for deaf cancer patients.

Any donation would be greatly appreciated. Dawson Deaf Cancer Support Service

Thank you
