Harry's point is a good one, as is yours. If it pisses down all day tomorrow then we'll have dodged a bullet but I'm sure Colly and the rest of the team know that you can't play the weather, you've got to play the game.
There were indeed a few batsmen who seemed happy to just occupy the crease rather than score runs, which seemed very strange when the commentators were constantly saying how good conditions for batting were.
It's all hindsight now of course but we didn't even score at 3 an over, which on the small ground that is Taunton that's a shame. Most teams score in advance of 3.5 there and had we done that we'd have had a lead of over 300 from our 110 overs.
It's easy to analyse that after the event, but having listened most of the day (the second wicket partnership aside) we never seemed either comfortable or in control. It was criminal losing 2 wickets either side of lunch and we never recovered from that.
It's hugely frustrating because Rocky and Richo's partnership really put us in the box seat - only for the rest (with the exception of Rushy) to massively let us down.
Barring rain, I can't see anything else than a defeat. To add to the misery, Colly dropped Myburgh on 40.

Unfortunately they'll probably only need to get an hour or so of play to win it. As has been mentioned, a couple of wickets could change things but I expect there to be more than enough break in the cloud for them to get the win.
The Chronicle headline of - "Unflappable Richardson let down by his teammates" - is unfortunately very true. With the exception of Stoneman (and Rushworth) the batsmen have really thrown it away for us.

It's going to have to rain a hell of a lot this season. Batting line up looks really fragile, and bowlers really struggling . just been talking to my Uncle who was there yesterday, reckons the bowling in the last hour would have been carted at under 12 level. Never looked like getting a wicket, despite them chasing the runs.

Never mind the batting line-up, a bowling line up of Rushworth, Harrison, Wood and Pringle is no better than anyone else the in the league IMO. Rushy is consistent and would always make my team, Wood has a lot of potential but Harrison and Pringle for me have a long way to go. I feel the club may have made an error by letting both Thorp and Claydon go, the bowling attack is simply too inexperienced without Bunny.

Theyve got no money and no matter how many times this gets said it is the truth. Durham will invariably have to rely on home grown talent for the foreseeable future that inexperience probably and inevitably will mean a spell in the second division, although this isnt football and a drop into that league will hardly make much dent in finances I would have thought.

wood is still slowly comoing back from injury but is beginning to pick his pace back up. was quite impressed actually checking his stats and he has now played 16 first class games, so a full season's worth in effect] and averages 22 with the bat including one 50 and has taken 55 wickets at 23.9 with 3 5 fers [not sure if that includes yesterday] re:cricinfo.. small sample size but if we get that out of him per season then he will be doing just fine.
harrison's numbers are fairly similar and whilst we all know stats aren't the full story they have both had inspired spells that have won us games, saved games and changed sessions in a few overs.
we're currently playing without two of our most important players in stokes & onions and borthwick has been unable to bowl properly for most of the season so far, have faith things will look up, yes bunny & rushy are very important to us but harrison, wood and arshad all played a part in us winning the title last year.

these lads fired us to the title last year, as onions gets older the youngsters will get more experience and may well overtake him. iirc onions wasn't performing near as well as these guys are at their age

What I mean with Pringle is that I've not seen anything yet to suggest he will be anything more than an average county bowler, I certainly wouldn't have picked him for this game ahead of Breese. It's still early days with the lad though so I don't want to write him off too quickly, but I've not seen anything to get excited about.

he is highly rated by a county who seem to know what they're doing when it comes to developing youngsters so im happy to wait and see. the fact that he is picked ahead of breese is promising imo, if he is at a standard where we rate him on a par then thats great as breese is getting no younger, he can hold a bat decent apparently and whilst he hasn't had a knock of much yet i look forward to it, we badly need a spinner at the minute with teams rattling up 4/5/6 hundred against us. if he can come in and get runs at 7/8/9 then great, our 'tail' all seem capable atm
