I'd be surprised if we get 240. My guess would be 150 to 175 all out leaving them with 235 maximum to get - and they wont get it.

From my experience the DCB have a clear idea right from U11's who the best prospects are and what they want them to do for the team.

However its natural that they would also look for all rounders.

Colonel you are missing the point. I agree that DCB have some excellent cricketers at U11, to U15 age group as batsmen, bowlers and all rounders. My point is not DCB. It is DCCC.
DCB develop excellent cricketers but then they have to get into the Academy to progress any further. As I've said for some unknown reason they have to be "3 dimensional cricketers" TO GET INTO THE ACADEMY. If I'm wrong please give me a list of specialised batsmen who are currently progressing through the Academy and are now in the Development Group?
There are 4 players who have Development Cricketers who are described by John Windows as follows: -

Usman Arshad Right Arm Medium Pace All Rounder
Paul Coughlin Right Arm Medium Pace All Rounder
Ryan Pringle Right Arm Off Spin Hard Hitting All Rounder
Ramanpreet Singh Right Hand Top Order Batsman.

Thats one possible out of four. Thats because the Policy over the last 6/7 years has dictated this.
I rest my case mate.:-(
 
Tough game and hard to call at the moment. I can't see us bowling them out as cheaply as we did in the first innings. Root is a class act, he is by far the best batsman on show in this game, out of our top 5 only Stokes would get a place in their top 5. Once again I think it's going to come down to how our bowlers perform with the bat as well as the ball, 125 vital runs for the last 3 wkts in the 1st innings has given us a slender lead but they can't be expected to do that all the time.

I've said right from day one that the side picked to start the season should be given time to prove that the management was right to start them, but that time is running out with every passing innings. Today looks like being the ideal opportunity for the top order to prove themselves, I hope it's not left up to the bowlers to pull us out the muck again.

As far as a total needed today, I think we need to bat to make sure we can't lose the game first, and then trust the bowlers to do their day job, bowl Yorks out. I'd like to see a lead of at least 320 posted, there's not a lot in the pitch for the bowlers when the sun shines, and the forecast for tomorrow is good so I don't think time will be an issue, it's vital WE bat long and put runs on the board before tea today when the clouds are set to come over. 320 lead at tea, 2-3 wkts tonight, what could possibly go wrong.

James Thompson is one to watch out for. Open for the seconds last week and got 27. Still very young but lets wait and see
