LVCC D1 - Durham v Warwickshire

Certainly looking a lot worse at Tea than it did at lunch. 250 must be the minimum like, for us to get any better - either Stokes has to get a ton or the tail has to wag. Would be hopeful of Richardson/Wood showing some resistance, not so sure about Onions and Rushworth doing so though.

Has it been a case of awful batting from the middle order? Or has there been something in it for the bowlers??

Despite being 6 down I'd be disappointed if we didn't get 300.

So much for a strong batting line up.

I'd hope so too but can't really see it. One more wicket brings in a young inexperienced 'all-rounder' followed by two out and out bowlers. Of course both Stokes and Richardson are capable of hanging around but I just fear Stokes is likely to give his wicket away playing an unnecessary (aggressive) stroke - as has been his downfall for most of the season already. Plus Richardson has hardly been blessed with a lot of match practice this season and whilst I reckon he's a cracking batsman he'd be forgiven for not scoring big in only his second inning for some time.

Always found it odd how some players left the club that showed promise - Turner, Pringle, Gidman etc.

Martin Saggers being the best example. Never let Durham down when Boon picked him, got released & went on to take hundreds of wickets & represent England.

When Rikki Clarke has figures like 13-4-20-2 it raises an eyebrow...

Collingwood has been poor with the bat this season.

He was last year too iirc. Would moving him further up the order help ?

Genuinely thought when he came back to play for DCCC full time he'd bat 3 or 4 & score 2000 runs across all comps.

With rain around tomorrow, anything around 300 and were getting nearer (264now), then would fancy our seamers to do some damage

best score of the day is Derbys vs Notts

Clear that he's declined. But could make a case for him stepping down from 4 day cricket next year, depending on how he fares. But if Benks doesn't come back, will need Colly's experience in the order

Absolutely no chance, he holds the team together and the captaincy has been brilliant

Had a good knock at Taunton to

Look at his record for Durham it is ordinary 13 championship hundreds since his debut in 1995,his record is similar to the likes of Muchall Smith and quite a few others. Excellent captain though.

I'd keep him in just for the captaincy alone.

We've done much better since he took over.

Agree in the short term but he has to score runs as well or he will loose credibility in the dressing room. Especially as he is on a massive salary compared to a lot of the players, and due to the finances at the club the way the management are getting players out of the club who are under contract the feel good factor the dressing room has could go as quick as it was gained.
