LVCC D1 - Durham v Surrey

Should be Rocky, Smith, Stokes, Myburgh, Benks, Colly, Richardson, Borthwick, Thorpe, Rushworth, Onions. It won't be.

As I said in the Scotland v Durham thread, I think Mustard will come in for Muchall as the only change. Richardson to play as a batter and bat number 8 behind Mustard, or even at 7 and Mustard at 8, that way Borthwick could be pushed up the order, maybe even as high as 3.

The bowlers don't need changing, they've done Durham proud the last few games.

I'd like to see Richardson keep his place.

Jennings bats at number 3.

No Muchall, Richardson or Blackwell.

The team is:

WR Smith (2)
MD Stoneman (26)
KK Jennings (1)
BA Stokes (38)
DM Benkenstein (44)
PD Collingwood (5)
P Mustard (19)
SG Borthwick (16)
CD Thorp (36)
C Rushworth (22)
G Onions (9)
MA Wood (33)

No Blackwell!

Blackie's omission doesn't surprise me, but I didn't expect Jennings to come straight in, obviously his clearance from the ECB came through today and good luck to the lad, he deserves his chance.
I thought Richardson had done enough to keep his place as a batter but the coaches must see him as a wicketkeeper first and batsman second.

Regardless of who's in and who's not, here's hoping they all perform well and get the win we need.

Ps. No Muchall, oh dear, half the posters on LMC will have nothing to rant about now. :-D:-D:-D:-D

Must say I didn't expect to see Blackie back after one good performance. Surprised Jennings is in ahead of Myburgh, you have to wonder why we bothered signing him for the rest of the season

Pleased the selectors have finally seen sense regarding Muchall, however much it depresses the 'Muchall is a hero' facebook lot.

The sad fuckers. The worrying thing is, they are all grown ups. Not just a set of kids.

Btw thanks for those tickets, will use them on Thursday.

Yes we will, no doubt about it.

We're still bottom of the league, plus Smith and Stoneman are still playing while Myburgh, Richardson and Blackwell aren't........ Plenty topics there Harry ;-)

 Maybe they can't get a game because they're not related to the skipper?:lol:

He's not the first player that's been treated that way. Mickey Mouse Club comes to mind sometimes like, f***ing shambles.

Same happened with Will Gidman. The lad was 23/24 year old playing well in the cb40 and couldn't get a look in the lvcc (fair enough at the time we were playing well) but Ben Harmison was the old "Muchall". Club offered him a new 1 day contract to be a "squad player" he told them no and moved to Gloucester.

They will wonder why the lad leaves in the near future, he hasn't had a game in the CB40 since top scoring down at Colwyn Bay, it's shit for the lad. Don't think he was even named in the squad for the Scotland game at the weekend?

He top scored in the first innings vs Middlesex and contributed 30 runs in the game in a team that hit 302 runs in 2 innings. Only 3 players for Durham scored more runs than him in that game. He also took 6 catches in the game, including some very good catches on the last day which won us the game.

Delighted to see Muchall dropped and delighted to see Jennings get a well deserved call up.

We can make the similar case about a number of players. It's well documented about a mate of mine being badly done to by the management at Durham (I'll not bore you again with the details )

But even in more recent times - Blackwell played well against Aus A, he must be thinking he couldn't really have done much more? Then of course Myburgh, whilst he hasn't set the world alight he's had a couple of decent knocks in the second team and it's just getting more baffling why he was signed in the first place.

Good news on Jennings though, will he be thrown straight into the firing line at number 3? Probably knowing out form we'll be on less than 30-1 if he is batting at 3!

We do tend to whinge a lot on here but in fairness it's just a sign that we give a shit about our County. Come 11am tomorrow I'll be tuning into Marty and willing the lads on. That Middlesex win has really given us a sniff, a good win can take us out the relegation zone and that's what we're all hoping for!

Weather actually looks ok for the four days at this point, few showers here and there perhaps but on the Riverside pitch we may only need a little over two days worth of play
