LVCC D1 - Durham v Somerset

The wicket isn't as bad as the scores make it out to be, some very good bowling and what's looks to be early season rustiness, plus a little bit swing seems to have inflicted the damage.
The rules on the roller have changed again, any weight roller is allowed.
I hope we have enough runs now without having to rely on 30 or 40 more today. Once again, the first hours play will be crucial, early wkts for us puts them under pressure but if they get someone set then 210-220 won't look so far away.

Ah right, didn't know that about the roller. With regards to the pitch I was just going off what the comms were saying. I believe Colly got a shooter and Scotty got one that spat up off a length?? Hopefully it'll be like a minefield for their chase :-).

Doubt we'll start on time today, I'm sure the damp conditions will give our bowlers more hope than it will their batsmen. BUT, I just can't help feeling our second innings has been a complete disaster and will completely undo the hard work from the first innings. I'm a pessimist but for some reason I can just see them coasting to their victory target with 5 or 6 wickets to spare.

It's lashed it down overnight. Still raining now. Poor batting conditions but it also means bowling with a wet ball.

Forecast is for rain then cloud later on. Can't see many runs being scored today.

Bit of rain overnight? I'd be amazed if somerset coast to victory

Should be play this afternoon and conditions look totally minging for batting

The wicket is deteriorating badly and personally I think 210 is a tall order fourth innings. They do have a helluva line up though but colly likes this containing game. I just don't think it's a wicket where you can throw the bat. You'll be out.

I'm 300 yards from the ground it's wet, overcast but the rain is easing now. Bad light will be a factor.

Looks that way..

And the ball will be heavier today

You can't grind it out, you can't throw the bat :-)

I'd settle for a day which consists of a total runs/wickets ratio of 100-12 ;-)

I don't think the wicket has changed much from day one, what has changed is the overhead conditions which is making batting difficult, plus the fact that the Somerset bowlers are bowling a much better line and length than they did in the first innings. I still think 210 is a winning score as long as our bowlers bowl as well as the Somerset bowlers.

No rain at the ground for now but very murky, the full covers are still on but the groundstaff are hopeful there won't be much of a delay getting started if it stays like this, although light may be an issue .

The covers are coming off but the light is a problem at the moment.

And now the covers are back on again, no rain but dark and overcast, they're waiting for the light to improve now.

in the members lounge now. Right over by the far wall.

What's the craic with Durham right now? No players in, no foreign imports. A piece I read in one of the broadsheets mentioned money problems? Is that right?
