LVCC D1 - Durham v Somerset

It certainly was a disgrace but we were 90-3 at one stage just after Lunch and I was seriously thinking 250-300 was still a possibility if we could put just ONE f***ing partnership together.

We lost 7 wickets for 35 runs. f***ing shambolic that.

I'd actually bring Plunkett back in to replace Claydon, he's decent with the bat and in the field too.

As for the batting I'd bomb Muchall and Smith and replace them with Benks and Richardson for the next game. Providing Benks is fit. If Stokes gets fit too I'd have us lining up as follows - Diva, Rocky, Collingwood, Stokes, Benks, Blackwell, Mustard, Plunkett, Thorp, Onions, Brathwaite.

Aye like you say it would have taken just 1 partnership to maybe give us a push or those extra runs towards a batting point.

The dismissal of Mustard pretty much summed it all up, totally pathetic shot as if he just couldn't be arsed.

Claydon was getting belted all over the ground, he was 7 overs for 49 runs at one stage, we were all amazed he wasn't taken out of the bowling attack.

That said 220-8 is no disgrace from the bowling point of view (though some runs were scored very cheaply), it's the batting that's a complete shambles.

I like Will Smith, he's a cracking bloke and was very good to our lass during last season when she was having an operation....... BUT so far this season his batting performances are poor and he never looked comfortable today. Muchall is Muchall and Blackwell is struggling badly also.

The way we lost those wickets after lunch were an absolute disgrace, total shambles.

Onions is bowling very well and I've got a feeling England will be asking for his services very soon.

I've read some people blaming age as the issue with the batting, which I believe is complete bollocks. We got the most batting points last season, I just can't understand how we suddenly go from a top class county batting side to a complete utter shambles so quickly?

Collingwood is offering absolutely nothing mind, he just doesn't look bothered and his performances with the bat are mirroring that opinion.

Afraid to say it but it's a relegation battle.

Borthwick should open IMO & Richardson should be given a chance as a batsmen.

Hit a century last week for the 2nd XI

I've been down today and couldnt believe Durham's performance, which was easily the worst days play I've seen from them since we were hammered by Kent a couple of years ago.

What i saw of the batting was shocking, inept and some of the bowling was no better. Claydon was hammered all over the field.

whilst its ludicrous to talk of championships, its also premature to talk about relegation but whats clear is that for as long as the top order are running about scoring 6, 12, 14, 0 etc. then we wont be getting any batting points and we wont be leaving the foot of the table.

there is clearly something amiss and it would be interesting to know if once more Harmison is at the center of it. This bloke, in my opinion, is finished at Durham and I'm starting to have my doubts about Collingwood.

People are starting to say that the squad is too old and has been together too long with little by way of new blood injected into it.

Is Colly the captain or what? I'm sure Cricinfo said it was Mustard earlier today.
Why is Stoneman no:3 and Smith no:2. Wasn't it the opposite way around last season? Colly at 4, didn't he play his best for England at 5/6? :-?

so many questions...

mustard is captain.
rocky & smith are both openers, so is diva, 2 into 3 doesnt go.
durham are not england.

hope this helps

119 for 2 now (or effectively -23 for 2).
Stoneman 21 no
Collingwood 24 no

Let's hope these 2 can build a big partnership to get us out of the clarts (litterally). Fingers crossed we can hold on for the draw.
