LVCC D1 - Durham v Somerset

Onions with a wicket first ball.

No doubt we'll get a few early wickets then let the middle order score some runs though.

I think Muchall is ideal to have around the fringe of the side leading the younger lads in the 2s and you wont get many better than him as a reserve!!

Smith however is surely on borrowed time, Stoneman doesnt have the determination, and Benks, Colly, Diva are simply ageing!

My main beef is that you never see one of our lads go in and bat 2 sessions for a boring, dogged 50. Just hold an end up and hang in there. Look down the card today. Pretty much all of them got between 10 and 30 with 2 or 3 undoubtedly flashy boundaries, then look to have given it away. Its early May man, get in there, survive for an hour then see where things stand!

Another for Onions. I hope England somehow ignore him because without him we are absolutely knackered.

I think Smith tries, but he's just not good enough and normally ends up getting a dogged 5

What does the number in brackets mean next to the players name on the Squad list? I.E:

The excellent Wellock reckons we have a chance!

MJ Di Venuto (23)
WR Smith (2)
PD Collingwood (5)
MD Stoneman (26)
DM Benkenstein (44)
GJ Muchall (24)
ID Blackwell (37)
P Mustard (19) captain/wicket keeper
CD Thorp (36)
G Onions (9)
SG Borthwick (16)
ME Claydon (25)
RMR Brathwaite (8)

I'd leave out Muchall cause he's shit and Thorp because I reckon they should give Brath a chance and Thorp hasn't done much this season in seam friendly conditions.........

As for the visitors, they have had some 'Durham-esque' injuries, according to their website they're down to their last 11 fit senior players, with Philander selected despite supposedly carrying an injury too. Jos Buttler split the webbing of his finger whilst training today, which all adds to our chances you'd feel..... So no doubt their rezzies will put on 400 and skittle us cheap :-?

That

Just their squad numbers

Divas is 23 because he loves becks (who doesn't !!)
Collys is 5 because he gets called wes brown
And will smith is number 2 well because quite frankly he's a bit poo

Beautiful and intelligent, hubba hubba. Footy Friday?

Another struggle with the bat, time to ditch Harmison (150k) and use the money to sign a proper number 3 batsman.

Absolutely no point in him being here now, playing second XI cricket and the bowlers are doing their jobs.

been down all day today and it was an absolute shambles.

Batting today was a disgrace, even the morning session of 84-3 (I think) we never looked comfortable at any stage. We then lost Stoneman and Muchall before 2pm and the collapse was well and truly on.

We had Somerset 6-2 at one stage and 100-5.

Trego batted with ease as Kieswetter and Meschede.

Claydon was getting whacked all over yet they still persisted with him. 8 overs for 63 runs.

Relegation battle looms

Collingwood a big waste of space as well at the moment, offers nothing

Thought Colly would have bowled alot more in these conditions.
Borthwick should open IMO & Richardson should be given a chance as a batsmen.

It certainly was a disgrace but we were 90-3 at one stage just after Lunch and I was seriously thinking 250-300 was still a possibility if we could put just ONE f***ing partnership together.

We lost 7 wickets for 35 runs. f***ing shambolic that.

I'd actually bring Plunkett back in to replace Claydon, he's decent with the bat and in the field too.

As for the batting I'd bomb Muchall and Smith and replace them with Benks and Richardson for the next game. Providing Benks is fit. If Stokes gets fit too I'd have us lining up as follows - Diva, Rocky, Collingwood, Stokes, Benks, Blackwell, Mustard, Plunkett, Thorp, Onions, Brathwaite.
