LVCC D1 - Derbyshire v Durham

Yorkshire are favourites to win their game now, the weather doesn't look like helping Sussex hold out tomorrow.

sounds like sussex are chasing a result, not very helpful.

If my maths are correct, Sussex are now out of the title race as they cannot catch us (they can only get to 203 points and we already have 204.5). Only three teams can win it now and Middlesex are also effectively out of it as they would have to win tomorrow, which is nigh on impossible from 334 behind.

Its a two horse race now and we could do with a couple more bonus points tomorrow. The way I see it, there is zero chance of us losing and very little chance of us winning, so might as well go all out for the bonus points. 93 needed off 15 overs and 5 balls at 5.88 per over to reach 350.[DOUBLEPOST=1379089467][/DOUBLEPOST]
Yorkshire have two spinners on in the 13th over, be off for bad light any minute would imagine

And they're off.

just my paranoia then. was wondering why plunkett was hauled off after just one over, taking 1 for 1. should've guessed it was bad light rather than the minor injury I was hoping for
so, two draws it is then

I hope its 2 draws mate.
It should be but Yorkshire have a chance. Strange how our game has followed the exact path the Hove game has taken with similar totals. Crucially though their game has always been a session or two ahead of ours and thats why I cant totally understand our tactics after lunch. Even an all out total of 350 would have given us good bonus points, left us little or no chance of losing and significantly put Derbyshire under pressure. I know the late rain would have stopped us from getting there but surely the intention should have been there. As it is we are a nailed on draw but we are in the hands of Sussex's fragile middle order to preserve our points lead for us. A bit of rain wouldnt go a miss down there.

Why have we been plodding along a 2.7 an over? Benks left a curse?

can think of no other reason other than ensuring we don't lose. maybe someone's had his calculator out & decided a draw still leaves us favourites even if Yorks win? but as wearsider & others have said, the draw was virtually nailed on as a minimum anyway so may as well have had a thrash & hope

Just a typical Smith innings wasn't it? Borthwick scored fluently enough. Sending Richardson and Colly in before Mustard didn't help.

Just back after watching all the play to date.
TBH we haven't played like prospective champions.
Giving away needless extra's(50 in total and at times the ground fielding wasn't the best either)
The only sessionwhen we have looked anything like our recent form was the session after taking the 2nd new ball yesterday afternoon.
Very dissapointed at the session after lunch today at the tedious unpositive approach when we should have pushed on with vigour and vim rather than play blockball to their adequate but not impressive spinners.
It wasn't like scotty borthwick at all who is normally so positive but he got out to the worst ball of the day and just because he allowed himself to get bogged down and in the mindset of unproductivity when it came he made a complete hash of it.If Sussex play in the 2nd innings like they did at the Riverside I foresee a Yorkshire win.

Yorkshire are going to force a win aren't they??

So are more people now in agreement with me that our slow scoring was a bad tactic?

Praying for some lost time down at Hove, perhaps in the morning just to help Sussex along to safety.

As for us, is there no prospect of enticing Derby into setting us a total? To me, their need is greater than ours and perhaps we could agree something to suit us??

Yorkshire will more than likely draw.

Stop being so bloody negative. Durham, a minor county 2 decades ago, may win the county championship. Again
