*~*~* Luton v Sunderland match thread *~*~*

Linesman giving offside for player in front of Patto as blocking his movement so therefore is in play and offside.
If the lad in front of Patt had moved away then goal would have stood. Well played Linesman.
A bit like Man City goal which was allowed as Silva moved away from Keeper on second phase of move before Stones headed it.
Luton player obstructed Patto when Morrison hit the ball.
Thats how I see it.

An interesting half. You'd have to say it's very reminiscent of the play-off game there where we haven't been able to get out and they've used their power & physicality to pin us back.

They've definitely imposed their game on us and we haven't been able to get our game going.

And yet, they haven't really had many clearcut chances for all the pressure that they have applied. Obviously that offside goal at the end would have been a disaster for us and that's always a risk if they continue to get corners but, up until then, we've done fairly well to get first contact on the ball (in comparison to the play-off game).

Looking at it, you would say that this is a game for Browne but he's been pretty poor. Hasn't shown his experience really (maybe rusty?). Not a game for Rigg either. Showed one beautiful touch out right but this is the first time this season where he's looked like a 17-year-old against full-grown men and he's just been blown off the ball.

Now, they're not the only ones, we haven't got a grip anywhere on the pitch really. Mundle looks our best bet, when he gets the ball into feet, he looks like he can put them on the back foot.

Someone like Mayenda with a bit of pace and power would actually be very useful today. Raw pace will help us get out.

But not conceding is great, will they be able to sustain that pressure for a full 90? We've had a couple of decent chances the few times we have got up the pitch. More shots on target despite only 40% possession. We've defended stoutly but we need to play a bit more.

Aye I hate it when they aren't given, those type. I'd genuinely be saying the same if it was us. Anyone that's played the game knows it.
The rule should be in my opinion anyway, if you're offside in the six yard box it's disallowed. Regardless as to whether you've made an attempt to play the ball or are "in the keepers line of sight", removes any kind of subjectivity.
