Luke O'Nien

Did really well today. My reservation with him is simply I don't think he's good enough in the air, but on the ground he's very good, and you have to love his spirit and effort - stuff that can inspire young players.

We certainly get up the pitch more and score a lot more goals with him in the side. His passing from the back especially is excellent and underrated, he is our only defender who can play through the lines as well as he does. Alderete can but with less consistency, LON accuracy especially long range is top notch.
Those saves Luke made yesterday I'm doubtful Alderete could have tbh. I think Luke coming on defo made the game go in our favour.

Lads better than Dan Burn who gets England call ups.

Like others I really hope he gets a goal next week to end this season on a massive high.

He was excellent yesterday, passing was excellent, cleared everything that came his way and that one crunching tackle was critical and he timed it perfectly.

He's very under rated as a footballer. He's very good at breaking the lines with forward passes and always looks to be positive with the ball. Yes, he has moments where he's rash, but was pretty unfairly criticised after Villa for me, where I'd only blame him for last goal and as someone said, Watkins has caused much better defenders that O'Nein problems. He wouldnt be a starter, but more than useful back up to have around.

Aye he always has been, even when we were playing n the lower leagues people spotted this nonsense about him not being a good technical player.

He’s an excellent technical player, it’s his strength and speed which people were right to question if he could play at the top level, but his football intelligence helps him manage that.

We were saying this about him being better than Burn

Luke's rep and obvious lack of game time has prevented him this season but if he continues like this and starts more games next season no reason why he can't get at least one call up. Could you imagine if he did.. what a career he has had. The perfect role model for all young kids.

Sadly he would get 4 red cards a season if he started every PL due to VAR/today's rules/interpretation of the rules.Positional sense also let's him down.

If he is to leave, the prefect finish would be us qualifying for Europe.

He has been brilliant for us
Going nowhere.
RLB loves him.
He is still younger than GX, and a model professional.

I genuinely think he will end his playing career here, and hopefully progress to the coaching set up.

The man is unbelievabley good.

And it has all been done through hard work.

Every goal we concede there is someone to blame with fans though. The level we're playing at now, you just have to accept that sometimes there's nothing you can do.

O'Nien has absolutely maximised his potential and has an incredible attitude. That should be commended by us above all else.

He's the perfect 4th choice CB for me. You need to see him 5/6 times a season, he's dependable and you don't need to spend £100k a week to fill that position. Plus, what he brings off the pitch is so much more than any other back up could.
