Luke O'Nien

Nothing against O9 he’s a great lad been a great servant but felt these last two games been token gesture appearances i mean bringing him on Left Wing at Anfield for a few mins then again today 3-0 down isn’t tactical let’s be brutally honest. Same as Patrick Roberts for me been a brilliant servant but i could see him leaving towards end of January window. O’Nien seems the type lad who just wants to play football he will get a few opportunities from championship clubs and i think he will go towards end if the window when the afcon lads are back
Spot on. We need to keep moving forwards, look at the calibre of players we are signing now. Hes been a good player but having the odd cameo can’t be great when he could easy be playing week in and out for a top championship side.

He will be incredibly rusty, and for some reason being brought on in positions that just are going to highlight his deficiencies. There's a reason he ended up being decent at cb and its because everything is generally in front of him. Not sure he needed to be brought on. He's always going to be full on and when youre rusty, mistakes like that will happen

I doubt he will start a league game this season. He can't be trusted not to do stupid things.
Imagine him with VAR defending corners. Id be suprised to see him start a game. He will play the fa cup game then i could see him leave later in the window

I don’t ever want to see him in a Sunderland shirt again- not because he is unlucky to catch the man today- it’s not as bad as gvardiol really as it’s on his blindside.

But because he’s just not good enough! Been a brilliant servant but as with Dan Neil on other thread he’s been outgrown by the clubs rise
This Is fair tbh

The fact we are playing this championship standard, old man, just shows we need more depth. Hopefully we get that in January. He's nowhere near good enough and has always had potential to be a total liability at any moment. People are blinded because he's a nice lad.

I don't think he's a PL level player, but Anfield wasn't token. There were 8 mins of football to be played and we were fighting for a point
