Luke O'Nien

Genuinely happy for Luke and what a great interview, giving plaudits to everyone but himself, not classing himself as a PL player until he's done more
This is why I've never bought for one minute that he'd ever even consider leaving in January. He's made it clear for years that his ultimate goal is to play in the Premier League with us. He's waited and fought for this too long to not give up on it after a few months.

People take the piss about Hjelde being the “vibes” bloke but we shouldn’t underestimate the morale and leadership and motivational mindset stuff that’s going on in the background with him, O9 and Moore. It makes a difference and our leadership knows it.
RLB talks a lot about Hjelde yet I doubt there is a poster on this board that has suggested they think he could step up to the Prem.

And he probably wont. But I think there's a lot of invisible stuff going on at our club this season. The whole Til The End stuff has shown how important vibes and feelings are to a club like ours. You need a buoyant dressing room and people like O9, Moore and Leo obviously play a part in that. Mindset is important.

Got a tad emotional there watching his interview.

Interesting to hear him say Simon Moore was one of the biggest players in our promotion push last season. Ya don't always appreciate what goes on behind the scenes.

Yeah. I think it's clear Leo is a big character around the place.

I expect Neil to go in January, but Luke's here for life.
I'd expect him to move on in the summer, he's not going to get much of a kick here this season unless we have a catastrophic injury crisis. He's only 31, can't see him sitting around as a cheerleader here for the rest of his career. Good chance to maximise his earnings now before retirement given that he's spent the majority of his career in League 1. He'll get a good contract at a top Championship side.

Quite emotional watching that post game interview like. Incredible achievement for him to play in the PL. Proud of him.

If we get to the New Year and we are still in good order it wouldn't half be a temptation to have a serious go at the FA Cup. Last August such a thing seemed to be out of the question because like a lot of people I believed that by the end of the season we could well be involved in a real fight to keep our Premier League place. Under those circumstances it would be crazy to get involved with a Cup runs with extra games and the risk of injuries to players but at the moment it looks as if our circumstances could be different.

Luke would be a big asset in a Cup campaign like that. After all we certainly don't have another player who has more experience of playing at Wembley . (Xhaka has only made four appearances at Wembley to Luke's five so compared to Luke he's still a bit of a novice.) :D

There’s a bit of all of us in Luke. He’s living the dream that we all had as youngsters about playing for the club we love. He’s obviously much loved by the club and supporters. It’s now clear RLB does and trusts him to do an important job both on and off the pitch

It cannot be understated that Luke,Leo and Moore are vital to support the integration of the new players into a Premiership team worthy of the name. Put simply you don’t have to be on the pitch to be part of the team
