Luke O'Nein - The 5 Year Plan

I said before the game, seeing him on the team sheet still worries me, even though his track record at proving doubters wrong is absolutely stellar.

Love the like to bits. Same as a few others in this squad and some who’ve since departed. We’ve been spoiled in recent years with respect to the characters we’ve signed
I agree with this but the Pen that was ruled out today he’s sliding in when he doesn’t have to. Love the lad. Hope he stays and becomes a coach. Do I want him in the starting 11 hmmm not really.

Imagine someone saying then we're going to have O'Nien starting at centre back away to Newcastle and home to Spurs and we'd win both games.
It’s insane, he’s everything you want in a professional football player. As big a fan as I am of him I thought this was one step too far for him, I thought it in the championship also yet he keeps proving me wrong.

Continuously proves the doubters wrong. He is a Sunderland legend. More so than Bally, controversial maybe.

Love him me like, shoving the hate and abuse he's had on here from a few brainless morons back down their throats.
He's the definition of what we like as a player here and yet he still gets pelters from some. Is he playing above his level now? Probably and he probably knows that himself but he works his arse off. He wouldn't still be here if he didn't mean something to the team and staff. Love the lad, he's done tremendous for us. What more could you ask of a player.

Great summation mate, he keeps proving the doubters wrong again and again.

Loads of interceptions today. Every time the ball went dead he was talking to our team, especially if they'd just made an error, RLB has 2 managers on the pitch, 09 & Granit👏👏👏
