Luke O'Nein - The 5 Year Plan

Imagine someone saying then we're going to have O'Nien starting at centre back away to Newcastle and home to Spurs and we'd win both games.
I said before the game, seeing him on the team sheet still worries me, even though his track record at proving doubters wrong is absolutely stellar.

Love the like to bits. Same as a few others in this squad and some who’ve since departed. We’ve been spoiled in recent years with respect to the characters we’ve signed

He doesn’t get enough credit for being a good player imho!

Lots of ‘we love him but…. The shirt pulling, the silly moments, the positioning…. Etc etc’ he’s show more than enough to say he’s good enough at prem level on merit.

Rather have o’nien than any of spurs back four - who have all made good careers for themselves at this level.

5 years ago - Luke plays 90 mins as we lose to Wigan and drop out of League one automatic promotion contention.

Today - Luke plays 90 mins as we move a point away from europe in the premier league
I dont think some people will realise the sheer importance of this statement.

Only 5 years ago, we were a team in league 1, having been bought for around 40 million.
Getting beat to fall out of play off places, with a squad of league 1 players.

What an amazing turn around, and Mr Sunderland 09 fully deserves his place in the prem and to play alongside and against, some of the best players in that league!

And the fact people expected up to be doing a wolves/Burnley just shows what we can achieve!

Haway the lads. Forever and always red and white!!

He is a good premier League player
Doesn't look out of sorts at all.
I Do understand those that thought he couldn't make that step up, but he's shown what a quality squad player he is.
He will play 5+ games next season too (imo)

Match thread that day

Mad looking at posts saying it's a good team when you look at it compared to now

The second post is a beaut like and even seen someone saying Aiden O'Brien is better than Stewart!

We weren’t even ‘bought’. We were leveraged by the parachute money which left us nothing to build with. It’s impossible to overstate how amazing our transformation has been.
