Down in London late September - week after the 50 over final and really want to have a look around Lords.

Anyone done it? Think it's £18 and I don't think that's bad value at all in fairness.

Also - is there a dress code for the tour?!!

I did it with my two sons on the sat before cup final day, no dress code and it is certainly worth a visit for any cricket fan.

I did back when I was 13 iirc and it was just casual dress.

Sadly they were doing up the pavillion so we never got to go into the long room, which was a f***ing joke.

Mind got a great tour of trent bridge for free when we went to the gift shop. One of the ground staf/or security guys gave us a tour of everything and he was incredibly knowledgeable cricket bloke.

Quality ground Trent Bridge.

I did this in 97. Quality then. My wifie was one of the lasses allowed in the long room. Her claim to fame...

Did it last summer. Don't remember it being that expensive, but definitely worth the money and if there's a game on you should get full access for the day. Would also try to spend a bit more time in the museum than you get in the tour as it is good to wander round if you haven't been before.

Is there alot more to see than you would just being at a game? going to go to the middlesex match this year, first time i'll have been to lords. I assume the museum is free to wander round during lunch etc?

Tour is really good, I did it last Autumn and the museum is part of the tour - which is not free, £7:50 a kick I'm afraid if you want to get in outside of the tour. The tours are regular throughout the day and no dress restrictions.

Here's a link for all the information you need :

What surprised me was that there's a Real Tennis Court in Lords, the Media Centre was canny too - but we had a really good pair of volunteer guides who made it all the more interesting'

Twisted, I don't believe you are, but if you're a Durham CCC member, bring your membership docs as that will get you into the Middlesex Members area, as long as you're wearing a shirt or polo shirt. I believe you can also get into the MCC Members area, though they have a strict dress code of jacket shirt and tie.

Anyway, I'll definitely be there with a few of the London Branch. Cheers

The best budget places are usually Premier Inns and such, however check this site out there appears to be some bargains :

Don't know any of them personally though. Good luck

OMG? That's even more than the proper Hotels!! My mates stayed at a Travel Lodge at Putney Bridge for the Chelsea game and got a real good deal. Might be worth checking on one's a little further away, but on the tube line to Lords. Say out past Swiss cottage. I'll have a little look see myself. Have you tried Tripadvisor and such? Might be worth taking the risk and doing a Lastminute.com nearer the date .....

aye, i'm weighing up whether it will be worth £250 odd quid to not have to stay with my mate, who is a nice enough bloke and into cricket but can be annoying anarl. wasn't planning on seeing if he wants to go to the cricket [he doesn't follow county, just test stuff]

jesus that was a bigger link than i reckoned on, this place seems possible.

That has got to be the biggest link on SMB

That's the type of place that will do you grand, though putting up with an annoying mate for five days may be a better option  Leaves more money for being social after the match.
