Look North/Tyne Tees Coverage ***Europa League Special***

People desperate to be angry despite us dicking our beloved neighbours 24 hours earlier. :D
It’s not that. It’s people feeling let down.

What a strange poster @Butcher's Coat is.

Laughing at fellow Sunderland supporters who are concerned about claims of racist abuse against a Sunderland player being glossed over by the local media.

Very odd behaviour.

Stuck this in. The twats.

Disgusting to see Dawn Thewlis and Luke Edwards gloss over the racial abuse received by Sunderland player Lutsharel Geertruida in the Tyne-Wear derby on Sunday, going so far as to liken it to a poor piece of goal keeping.
This was a shameful incident in the game, and has no place in football or society, yet these two clowns made light of it as though it just part and parcel of the match. This is an absolute disgrace, the pair have shown zero journalistic integrity, and should be deeply ashamed of themselves, and the BBC should be holding them to account.
Just tried to put one in myself but the email verification link they're supposedly sending hasn't turned up.

Wonder if they've had that many they're not accepting any more on the same subject?

How odd you thinking that I am laughing at Sunderland supporters.

The difference is shocking and for those that missed it, here's the 2 links (they may expire in 24 hours)

ITV, 1st item for just over 4 mins about the racism and violence, then just before 16mins another 3 and a half mins showing fan interviews etc

BBC, just over 2 minutes long starting around 13:40ish

I don’t watch ‘local evening news’, but watched Look North yesterday.
The difference between their ‘coverage’ (or almost non-coverage) and ITV’s in depth analysis of ALL of the incidents is stark.
It is chalk and cheese.
The editorial staff at the BBC should hauled over the coals….but they won’t be. 🤬

Sent this:

"Utterly unacceptable level of coverage of the events prior to, and during, the Premier League local derby between Newcastle and Sunderland. Hardly a mention of the thuggery and violence carried out by Newcastle 'fans' prior to the game - missiles, bottles and flares thrown at visiting fans. The Sunderland team bus being attacked and damaged - all under the 'watchful eyes' of Northumbria Police.

Then we get Dawn Thewlis and Luke Edwards speaking in hushed tones about the game - as if a Newcastle loss was a tragedy for the North-east. Glossing over the racial abuse received by Lutsharel Geertruida as if it was nothing more than 'banter' and comparing it to a poor piece of goalkeeping by Ramsdale.
This is something that has no place in the modern game and society, yet it was light-heartedly brushed aside with a platitude. I suspect that had these events taken place in the earlier reverse fixture then much more would have been made of it, along with sombre faces and expressions of condemnation from the very same presenters.
I also suspect that had the result been different there would have been a much more extensive coverage, along with fan interviews and clips of black-and-white festooned pubs and clubs in the throes of ecstatic celebration.
This needs to be looked into and sorted out - it is no longer funny, and can no longer be tolerated from a news outlet that is meant to be for the whole of the North-east and Cumbria, and not just for Newcastle."
