Just shown on look north they were down at philli seems to be a few critics of the league already and a dig at the senior league too. Hopefully things sort themselves out as I think this new league could be really good.

Did the use their Nwcastle bias slant on the story!!

Phili were one of the teams that NEPL2 knocked back - probably still a bit sore about it.

I agree that the new league will be good. Alot of us will get the chance to meet/play against new people and play at different grounds. I think things needed a shake up so maybe this will do the trick.

Mainly due to the state of the pitch/wicket wasnt it?

The mrs was telling me that philli were folding at the end of the season. Was this the gist of the report??

They seem to have been struggling recently to turn teams out particularly at a junior level. Still they are one of the oldest and best known cricket clubs around and it would be a shock if they went the distance. Heard that Greenside are struggling at the minute and may join up with the lintz. anyone heard that rumour?

Phili always was a very clique club, so maybe people who weren't in the cliques stopped bothering and now they're struggling to turn out teams.

Think it would be a shock if they folded as they have always seemed to be a well run club with decent numbers from the outside.

Greenside were turning out 3 senior teams last season, I'd hope they could carry on. Although someone said similar to me recently.

I've heard Chopwell and Burnopfield of the TSL teams are struggling a bit although if Burnopfield are getting a junior section going again that should sort them out.

Hated Philli as a junior. Had some absolute dicks playing at Junior and Senior level. That said, if a club of their stature is struggling, things don't look good for grassroots in the region. They were one of the bigger and better senior league clubs before the Prem division. I seem to recall there were even plans to build an indoor cricket school there at one point mid-nineties

It's somewhere i've never played but driven past many times and it always stuck me as somewhere that shouldnt be struggling.

No I have not heard that one and they are my second closest club after Ryton. Would be a shame and a big shock if true. Hope its not.
