Look North. Again.

So a full Roker Park and all those people lining the route from the A1M at Carville to Sunderland itself where everyone that could lined the streets what is the estimate for people turning out to cheer the lads on? I can imagine the good people of hetton,Houghton, Easington and Seaham turned out too. Got to be a record number I reckon.
We were at the Wheatsheaf. I got the bus from Washington with my older sister and loads of the houses along the route through had flags and banners on them.
There were people on top of the garage roof over the road from the pub, Lads up lampposts to get a better view. It was absolutely rammed.
Then the bus came slowly over the bridge towards us and everyone went mental as it went past. It was magical 🤩

That’s a fabulous memory

Guide to How to Alienate Local Football Supporters:

Step 1. Fig 1.
#1. Present a local regional magazine programme and for half an hour for every day of the week talk exclusively about one achievement of one club. Amplify the emotional side to pull at the heart strings. And if one so chooses, manipulate the subject context so you portray the achievement as considerably bigger than what it is.

I’ve just checked @Johnap who was I think club secretary at the time said there was 40,000 inside Roker Park that night. Amazing amount of people everywhere trying to catch a glimpse 😻
Yes I was in Roker Park that night and can confirm it was full!! Waited ages for the team to arrive as the bus kept getting held up. Saw the Leeds coffin placed on the centre spot, wouldn’t be allowed today 😉
