I'm trying to think what that building had been, was it Jackson the tailors at some point. Or had it been where Shephards had been before they went to where Comet was laterIt must have opened in the late 80s but long gone now.

How could you miss the Boldon lad ?
Still open it is.
Great place. Full of exactly the type of shady character that all snookers halls should be !
He's very unlucky when it comes to fires in pubs he owns
Bit confused at this, the owner isn’t a ‘he’ and as it stands it’s due to be re-opening 2024..Gin house got burned down recently, 100% not an insurance job from the non-shady owner
I also knew two brothers whose Mother was landlady at The Borough.
This ^ it’s a Herons Freezer shop nowShut ages ago

Me mates mam and dad had the Queens Arms when I started school with him in about 1977. Remember going to his Birthday party there about 1980 and we watched the Blues Brothers on his video recorder. They sold the pub about 1983.iirc both Jarrow Queens were dumps, but each to their own I suppose.
There's a metro station to get them out of townThey’re houses now….shock horror. Loads of houses being built, fuck all infrastructure to accommodate the new residents though.
Had some cracking nights in there.Urinals were a stone trough out the back with a corrugated plastic roof. Brilliant pub
Is the Long bar (Royal Oak) still open?
