Lois Openda (transfer rumour)

It almost feels like the interest was fabricated entirely just so Keith could shut it down an hour later and somehow spin Sesko's potential move from RB Leipzig as the Mags getting one over us. See Ramsdale.
that’s some Flat earth covid was a hoax style thinking right there

Even if he wasn't out of our range, which he surely is, Leipzig won't sell both him and Sesko, and Sesko is leaving one way or the other.

Incredible though this summer has been so far he’s in the 45-60m bracket. It’s a non starter I suspect unless they wanted Mayenda and a deal could be struck which is unlikely and not necessarily a great deal for us either, long term at least.

Openda is only 25. Mayenda is he proves himself at any point could be gone before he reaches that age and Openda would still only be around 30/31

We should be focusing big money on the CBs tbf, especially if we get Guiu (or whatever his name is).

We play 1 up front, doubt we’d go with Mayenda, Isidor & 2 others.

No doubt the Sky Germany reporter has been given the info. Got to think who, and why, though.

1) Leipzig: not likely to want to lose 3 good players, but could brief this to try and force Chelsea (Simons) and Newcastle/Man U (Sesko) to hurry up.
2) Agent: player unhappy being left behind with others leaving, which club has been ambitious and could be believable to test wider interest etc.
3) Sunderland: immediately denied it, either to temper expectations of who we can get or after, or to keep it as quiet as possible if there is any truth (unlikely).

My money is on the players agent.

I mean, I wouldn’t exactly go that far like… but it’s not exactly a great look for Sky when one of their own breaks a story as an exclusive, only for another to shut it down an hour later. You’d think they’d at least corroborate the story internally first.
